I know that this would be considered advertising, but I was wondering why it is okay for other companies to have Wikipedia articles? I looked up home depot and there are pictures and links and tons of information on who they are. Is there a certain way I have to go about getting the website recognition? Pashtun soapboxer, again

My friend with the Pashtun hangup is at it again - [1] [2], and vandalized my userpage as well [3]. He's contesting his block at user:Moconner, and has been denied by two admins. In addition to his home DSL IPs, he's also used an Apple store in Houston and an airport wifi connection in Amsterdam. Given his persistence, do you think you could semi-protect his favorite targets - War in North-West Pakistan and War in Afghanistan (2001-present)? There have been a couple of others, but these articles get hit most often. I would ask at RFPP, but I'm pretty sure they won't due to the low level of activity. If you've got any other suggestions on how to deal with this, I'd love to hear. Thanks! // Chris (complaints)(contribs) 21:23, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reinstating Rees Associates, Inc.

Towards the end of last year, I tried to add our firms historical profile to Wikipedia. I have to admit, I was ill informed as I added several likes to our site causing you to flag me as blunt advertising. I have to clearly state that was not my intention. For that matter, could you please reinstate our title (Rees Associates, Inc.). I believe our firm has a rich history that could add value to the Wikipedia community. Your help will greatly be appreciated.

Thank you.

Webmaster Rees Associates, Inc. www.rees.com webmaster@rees.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.227.131.226 (talk) 15:16, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gogo Dodo is on a break right now. The article in question, Rees Associates, Inc., was deleted for being blatant advertising. The article lacked any sources and was written like an advertisement. I imagine you are the user who created the page (User:Kristina.dover). If so, you can try to write a more neutral, sourced article in a user sub-page, such as User:Kristina.dover/sandbox that abides by our policies. If you choose do so, I will review it and see if it is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia. Thank you. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 21:14, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gogo. Re. your edit at Currency bill tracking, I'm at a bit of a loss to see why you removed link re. a patented device to track currency and the obvious surveillance implications on the basis of WP.EL RashersTierney (talk) 19:17, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hope it was a good Christmas for you. :) neuro(talk) 04:52, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is GOOD to see you.

Thanks for the welcome-back.  :) I was getting tired of blowing the whistle and not being able to do much more than that about a problem. Hope everything's OK on your end! As for me, I'm going to try and keep the promise I made to myself to do more editing and less patrolling. Thanks again! --PMDrive1061 (talk) 16:09, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Survivor: Tocantins

Maybe this needs to be protected. I've already spoken with a different admin but I think it should be pitched to you as well. This is becoming alot more prevalent on this page and I doubt if it will be slowing down anytime soon.--EmperorofPeopleEverywhere (talk) 06:16, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

User Tedhead2k violation of 3RR rule

Hi

User:Tedhead2k has repeatedly violated 3RR rule by reverting the contents of this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mcmaster&action=history even though he states it is subjective content, there is no discussion about it and no consensus reached. 144.214.156.104 (talk) 08:53, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The phrase that is being removed is a peacock phrase and I agree with its removal. While the two of you should not have edit warred over the issue, Tedhead2k is correct that the phrase is subjective. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 18:17, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why was that considered an attack page when explaining a burch amount? Lance —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nick485 (talkcontribs) 18:51, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

While I would agree it is somewhat slanderous it is all done in good fun. I would like to keep it up for a couple days if I could. I could have 30 police officers swear to its usage. Anyway I understand if your policies prohibit it. Thanks Lance Nickerson —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nick485 (talkcontribs) 19:30, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you read all of those edits you just undid, they were totally legit. You just undid info that makes navigation and retrieval of newsworthy and notable information easier. That’s colloquially know as cutting off your nose to spite your face. I was unjustly blocked for violating a rule I did not violate, that wikibully MastCell just didnt like the cited legit edits I made. --Fodient71.246.98.72 (talk) 07:08, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you just wait out your block or request an unblock, you wouldn't be having this problem. Using uncivil edit summaries is not going to get you unblocked. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 16:58, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Message from PlutoniumCarrot

I tried to create a new article for the word Nubcake, but I recieved a message that said I was vandalizing. I do not agree with that because this is an artice I submitted myself, and my addition of a reference was not vandalism. If I am improperly creating a new article, please tell me that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by PlutoniumCarrot (talkcontribs) 19:19, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for dealing with that idiot. I've been trying to get his internet pulled from various ISPs now, as he's been vandalizing here for over two and a half years now. Hello again Gogo Dodo. I wanted update you about the situation on this page that you helped with a few months ago. When the protection came off the IP's from Spain went back to their old ways of messing up the page. Then a short period of cooperation ensued where they seemed to acknowledge some of our edit summaries and then made some constructive changes. Now, unfortunately, they are back to linking incorrect items, putting lists in the wrong chrono order, putting in unsourced material, etc. If you feel that you could semi-protect the page again for a couple of months (or whatever you are comfortable with) it would be much appreciated. One other thing to be aware of, when the page is protected they have a tendency to put there preferred version on the talk page. Other editors and I revert this. I know that protecting talk pages is not the favorite way to go. However, if you can semi-protect it also they might finally get the message that their edits are not in the best interests of wikipedia. Any help that you can give will be appreciated and thanks for your time. MarnetteD | Talk 20:58, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm confused as to why you are removing my external links. Do you want me to instead upload and cross-reference information? It's a very much related foundation, and I would like people to be able to easily acces additional information from another source. Such as stories, or additional information where it is lacking. I'm linking in order to fill in gaps in wikiknowledge. More and more these days, College professors are suggesting the use of Wikipedia external links and references as the springboard for research and writing. I guess it would not be advertising since I do not work for the company. I just know from past research that they are the oldest and largest in the industry, so I though it would be a good addition to the article. Thanks!
