Real Zaragoza is a Spanish football team from Zaragoza in Aragón. Founded on March 18, 1932, it currently plays in the Primera División. They play in white with blue shorts. The home stadium is the La Romareda that seats 34,596 spectators. |
Wikipedians are the people who write and edit articles for Wikipedia. Some people might think that Wikipedist would be a more appropriate name, as an encyclopedist is someone who contributes to an encyclopedia. "Wikipedian", though, suggests being part of a group or community. So in this sense, Wikipedians are people who form The Wikipedia Community. A faction of users believe that Wikipedistian is the most appropriate, even though it is quite difficult to say. |
== History== |
The number of Wikipedians (both good and bad) has grown to over 4 million (currently and precisely NUMBEROFUSERS — counting registered user accounts), plus an unknown, but quite large, number of unregistered contributors. Detailed statistical information about Wikipedia is available at Wikipedia:Statistics. |
Originally formed out of two rival teams, Iberia SC and Real Zaragoza CD. By the 1930s, the team was making headway in the leagues, but the Civil War put a brake on a lot of the progress made. |
On September 8, 1957 the team left their original stadium (the Torrero) for the La Romareda. It was not until the 1960s that Zaragoza would see their first successes, in the Copa del Rey and in the Fairs Cup. The Real Zaragoza side of this era contained los Magnificos (the Greats in English), an attacking line of Canario, Santos, Marcelino, Villa and Lapetra. Other notable players included Reija and Violeta in defence. Fans of the side had to wait until the 1980s to experience another victory in the cup competition. |
Real Zaragoza have played the majority of their history, a total of 45 seasons, in the Primera División. Being more of a specialist cup side, they have not managed to win the league, although they have come second on one occasion. In the 2001-02 season they were relegated from the Primera for the first time in 25 years; however, they earned promotion back to the Primera the following season. |
A statistical analysis of active Wikipedians over time is also available. |
In late May 2006, Agapito Iglesias bought Alfonso Soláns' shares and took the control of Real Zaragoza. Agapito promised to build one of the strongest team in Spain and Europe. His first year Real Zaragoza bought Aimar (11 million euros) as mediatic player. In a poll in 2007, Zaragoza fans voted Aimar the teams greatest ever player. |
The diversity of Wikipedians renders it nearly impossible to make many categorical statements about Wikipedians as a whole. Information about many registered Wikipedians is available on their user pages. However, users are not required to create these pages or post information on them. |
==Honours== |
One could think of the Wikipedians as a global ant colony, except that there is no queen, and users choose their own roles. Some Wikipedians welcome newcomers; some Wikipedians award those who they feel deserve awards. Some upload images; some work on history articles; some clean up grammar; and still others work on reverting vandalism. Many take on all of these tasks. Whatever you decide to do, every Wikipedian is valuable. |

This page contains lists of Wikipedians by country, as well as various other groupings. Different categories have been created due to demand. Individual Wikipedians may add themselves to appropriate lists if they wish. It is suggested that if you put your name on one of the more specific lists, you should also include it on the alphabetical list. |

A trend among the Wikipedians is creating and collecting userboxes for display on their user pages. Userboxes are small individual templates that describe users' attributes and interests. Wikipedians use these boxes for a number of reasons. Some use them to find other users with common goals and/or interests, some use them for statistical reasons, and some use them as a cure for boredom. Some users will create a page consisting solely of userboxes, and never return; while others will return to make substantial contributions in building the encyclopedia. The userboxes have proven to be a fun, optional, and effective way to sort and categorize Wikipedians. |

Real Zaragoza is a Spanish football team from Zaragoza in Aragón. Founded on March 18, 1932, it currently plays in the Primera División. They play in white with blue shorts. The home stadium is the La Romareda that seats 34,596 spectators.
History
