James Olliges, Jr., professionally known as Jim James or Yim Yames, is the singer of Louisville, Kentucky-based rock band, My Morning Jacket. James grew up in the Hikes Point neighborhood of Louisville and graduated from Saint Xavier High School in 1995.[1] As the singer, frontman, producer, and lead songwriter for My Morning Jacket, James has been instrumental in defining the sound of the band, in particular on their critically acclaimed Z, which he co-produced with John Leckie.[2] Music critic Robert Christgau, in his negative review (C) of My Morning Jacket's debut album It Still Moves, likened James to Neil Young.
