Encouragement
Kumioko, my dear friend, I just stopped by to offer some words of encouragement. You've done a great job helping Wikipedia and your contributions show that. You've made many friends along the way and many comments here show that. There are also those that hold you in such high regard that they've been defending you and keeping an eye on your user and talk pages. That is a credit to them, but also a credit to you. And that says a lot. You know that you are valuable to the project and you know that others value you. This is something to be proud of and I congratulate you for making such a name for yourself.

Re: recoving your username, this may be difficult but might not be impossible. I think you should talk with Brion about it. I believe he could get in the database and reset the password. The difficulty would be in verifying that you are you. I believe they could use CU data to verify your IP, which might be enough. Another thing that would help would be anybody that knows your email and can vouch that you are you. Perhaps an admin or some other person of standing within the community that you've emailed recently. If all else fails, you could always make a new account like User:Kumioko, the original or something similar. I think it's important for you, and the project, for you to recover your good name.

Wikipedia can be a very harsh place. I'm sorry that you've had to go through all this stuff recently. As an IP editor, I know these issues all too well. I also agree with many of the concerns you've raised recently and would encourage you to try to change these issues for the better. Also, you certainly are right to be upset at many people for mistreating you, but there are also some that were trying to do what is in the best interest of the 'pedia and I hope you don't mix the two together as the latter have no ill will towards you.

I'll close by saying this; the recent events are a few days and a few dozen edits. They can't compare to the many years and hundreds of thousands of edits of your Wikipedia career. So please don't let this bump in the road ruin your long and otherwise happy journey.

Thanks for being a friend to the 'pedia. 64.40.60.74 (talk) 12:08, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

Before anyone posts here....

Please do not come here to bash, make fun of, make accusations, dance on the grave or defend Kumioko. What has been done is done. Just walk away. Bgwhite (talk) 19:07, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Kumioko, I was wondering if you could leave a rough outline of what, specifically you were trying to accomplish from a high-level point of view. That is, the intended goal(s) (I would enunciate it myself, but it might seem trivial coming from me). A paragraph or two on where you thought Projects should go. United States ones might be separated out if there were others. Please understand, in asking this, that I am not aware of everything you have done for Wikipedia!

And what (in general scope) remains to be done. I just want to see if I can help nudge Wikipedia in that direction. And maybe there are others interested, as well. Thanks. Student7 (talk) 13:03, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't take this the wrong way but no I'm not really interested in doing that at this point. Both would require a lengthy reply and I don't need or want a bunch of angry admins combing through my edits trying to find something else to fight about. I tried for years to do the right thing and to make a difference and too many editors just want to cause drama. I would also discourage you from going down that road. Too many editors are too vested in their little empires and the fight isn't worth it. Take it from me. The best I will do is say that if you look here I identified 6 things with regards to what I was attempting to do with WikiProject United States and a couple that I was working on. This might give you a picture of my overly optimistic and utopian ideals of Wikipedians actually working together for the project instead of fighting about what articles they control. A couple are marked as done but I was continuing to refine the results. 138.162.8.57 (talk) 18:08, 19 March 2012 (UTC)(Kumioko)[reply]

Thank you Kumioko

The MASSIVE Barnstar_

You were kind to me where our paths crossed,
that is true, but that's not the reason why I want to thank you, because that was just a small thing, too minor to notice. No, the real reason why I'd like to thank you is for the things that you did for me without my even knowing about it. There is so very much hard technical work that you did behind the scenes which people may never notice, and you knew that at the time and carried on working just the same, striving to help all the people who would never know your name or what you did for them. It makes me think of the free software movement as well, how many nameless people strive not for recognition, but simply to make the world a better place, knowing the best things in life are free, and transcend money, fame and recognition. So considering the amount that you did for me, no Barnstar will ever come close, and the largest will be but a tiny insignificant grain of sand on the beach of the work done, but I'm happy with that, because it's also completely unnecessary to thank you at all, as that's not the kind I think you are.
