In Amphibious Warfare Vessels Section, Shardul class ships are listed. The second and third ship names are same. The third option should be changed from INS KESARI to INS AIRAVAT "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/INS_Airavat_(L24)" Santhinen (talk) 22:37, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

Please remove the INS Krishna(F46) entry from this list of active Indian Navy Ships, because it was decommissioned on 24th May. As for the source (http://www.defencenews.in/defence-news-internal.asp?get=new&id=1249).
Thank you.

INS Vikramaditya
[edit]I have removed Vikramaditya from the list of active aircraft carries as it is yet to be commissioned by the Indian Navy. Promises of delivery have been made many times but have not being fulfilled, so we need to be extra careful here. I recommend waiting till the ship is firmly with the navy (which will reportedly happen in December 2013) before adding it here. Thanks. Anir1uph | talk | contrib 13:03, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
Vikramaditya and Arihant
[edit]If Vikramaditya and Arihant are mentioned in the article, then INS Kolkata and INS Kamorta deserve to be there as well. No one's expecting Arihant to be commissioned earlier than Kolkata and Kamorta. ƬheStrikeΣagle sorties 15:14, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
- I would suggest that due to the higher public profile of Vikramaditya and Arihant as a capital ship and a nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, that they should remain in the article. Also, Vikramaditya and Arihant are currently in advanced stages of sea trials and a heartbeat away from being commissioned. The same cannot be said for Kolkata or Kamorta.Antiochus the Great (talk) 15:52, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
- IMO, even Kolkata is in advanced stages of trails considering it was expected to join the navy in June. Anyway, it's fine to continue status quo ƬheStrikeΣagle sorties 15:56, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
- I did not know Kolkata was in sea trials, has it been delivered to the navy yet? I feel it may be acceptable to include any vessels that has been handed over to the navy, undergoing sea trials and is near commission. This way a clear consensus can be put in place for future additions to the article. Sometimes it can be tricky to figure out! Antiochus the Great (talk) 16:10, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

Wish to update the page as shown in the sample table. Removed the type column and introduced the link in the heading. This removed the need for a separate column for mentioning of the type and saved space. Tonnes added at the heading. Similarly class at each end removed, since it's in the heading. The Note section must be a link to PIB on the commissioning of the vessel. Something similar to List of current ships of the United States Navy which links to the U.S Navy page of the vessel. Notes must be links to some official website. Commissioning date column will tell the date on which the ship got inducted and will give an approximate amount of time the ship will be in service by looking at that date. This is a very important data. Any further improvements can be mentioned here and I Will work on it. Rrotegero (talk) 05:49, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
To remove or keep INS Arihant
[edit]First what we mean by 'active'? My guess is that, it means the ships in service with the Indian Navy. I had a brief look at the talk page of the article and found out that INS Vikramaditya too was mentioned in this article way before it was commissioned. I don't understand, what is the definition of 'the high profile' we consider to find a place for the ship in the article way before it is commissioned? The first two lines of the article, 'List of active Indian Navy ships is a list of ships in active service with the Indian Navy. In service ships are taken from the official Indian Navy website.' actually says that the article will only have the active ships of Indian Navy (In service ships). I think we shouldn't find excuses such as 'high profile' to mention a ship which is not in service with the navy. @Nicky mathew: That editor is right! I think we should remove the ships which are not currently operated by the Navy (Not in service). And what is the certainty that a ship will complete all it's trial successfully? What if the trials fail and the ship is taken into dry dock and ripped apart? Still an active ship? --Jaaron95 (talk) 01:44, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
- Not necessary that all has to be played by the rules. Even the chances that the ship is in operational deployment even without the commissioning ceremony taking place. All is possible. Or do you know that it has not taken place? When was the time the world came to know about IAF operating Mig-25'S? When it was going to be decommissioned. :) Deltadive (talk) 05:30, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
Why are subs undergoing sea trials are not mentioned?
[edit]Why are INS Kalavari and INS Arihant which are undergoing sea trials not mentioned inspite being an important platform but Mk. IV LCU ships which are still under construction mentioned? Zenoxas (talk) 11:35, 4 July 2015 (UTC)Zenoxas
- @Zenoxas: Because the page is only within the scope of 'ACTIVE' ships.. MK IVs are active and hence get to be included. Regards--JAaron95 Talk 12:10, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
- I think both these platforms are very important to be omitted. It should have a sub column maybe. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zenoxas (talk • contribs) 12:51, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
Chakra is "Akula-I Improved" and not Akula-II, there is only one Akula-II ever built that is "K-157 Vepr".
[edit]Chakra is "Akula-I Improved" and not Akula-II, there is only one Akula-II ever built that is "K-157 Vepr". It is correct to refer to it as "Project 971-I" a subdivision of "Project 971". Do not refer to it as Akula-II class. This is a wide misconception. standardengineer (talk) 13:36, 21 October 2015 (UTC)

I am not sure of the count of 'Solas Marine fast interceptor boat' under the Patrol Boats section. The current count stands at 80. However, based on a NDTV article, there are only 67 such ships. Of this, one sank on 21st Jan 2014. Also, the ships are mentioned to have a weight of 15 tonnes while the page mentions the weight to be 50 tonnes
Could anybody help with updating the exact count of such patrol boats and the tonnage.
Also, the count of 'Immediate Support Vessel' shown is 23. The Indian Navy website lists the count of these ships 13 (T-26, T-27, T-28, T-35, T-36, T-37, T-38, T-39, T-40, T-47, T-48, T-49 and T-50). Could anybody confirm the count of ISV's

INS Vikrant
[edit]Considering that INS Vikrant is being fitted out, would it be wrong to add it to the 'aircraft carrier section?'
