G'day, just wondering if you'd like to join WikiProject AFL. There seems to be a lack of awareness that such a project exists due to the previous inactivity on this site. But it's here, and I hope you will join. Cheers, Rogerthat 07:29, 18 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Next time, please do not move or rename a page by copying/pasting its content, because doing so destroys the edit history. Texas in the South

[edit]

Hi, I was just wondering what your opinion on Texas being part of the South is. There has been some debate about this; 86% of Texans consider themselves Southerners, and Texas was part of the Confederacy, but many non-Texans group Texas with the Southwest. If we can get the opinions of people from other parts of the South about Texas, it would help. Thanks! --Stallions2010 19:52, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Maryland Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:Maryland Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. You may remove the deletion notice, and the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Irwin Belk, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Hi, do you have a reference that Dane Olson, professional gamer, is notable, and is a resident of Ayer, Massachusetts? I had reverted the previous addition of his name to the notable residents section on the article about the town because I couldn't find anything notable on Google about him, certainly not from a well-known source. --Michael WhiteT·C 14:28, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Vermont Amateur Soccer League, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Realkyhick 05:28, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've restored the article for now, please don't remove the tag. fifth tier doesn't sound notable to me, and the article gives no independent verifiable sources that it meets the notability guidelines. However, I'm a Brit, so I might have made a wrong call. You need to add evidence of notability to the article. Jimfbleak.talk.05:57, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have explained the notability in the VASL talk page and have included sources from official US Soccer organizations. BobbyAFC 06:08, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the tag, but it would be a good idea to put the notability in the article page, rather than on the talk page. On the article page as it stands, there is little to suggest that this league is of more than local interest. Jimfbleak.talk.06:36, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have been doing a bit of work on the project and wanted to know if you were still interested. One of the major things that we need help with is article assessment. If you are interested in remaining a part of WikiProject North Carolina, please consider placing the userbox {{User WikiProject North Carolina}} if you have not already done so that others will know that you are a part of this Project as well as ensuring that you are listed on the WP North Carolina Participants. Cape Lookout Lighthouse

Hello WikiProject North Carolina members! A few of us at the The Newsroom Team decided to get together and re-energize the project, through these newsletters. This newsletter is hopefully the first of many to come. We want this project to be active in creating and expanding articles related to our state. If you're a current or former resident of the state, we hope that you will help spread the knowledge of how much there is to learn about North Carolina.

  • A great way to expand new articles is by keeping track of the new articles list. Please add any new NC-related articles or older ones you come across that have not been tagged with the project banner. When you notice an article has been added to the list, read over it and check for citations, grammatical errors, and spelling. If you've written a NC-related article in the past 5 days, read the requirements for Did you know... and add your article to the DYK nomination list. It might be chosen for the Main Page!
  • If you see a new member added to the project list, a great idea would be to leave them a welcome message on their talk page. Show them we notice new members and that we want them to become active participants.
  • If you have any questions in regards to the project, feel free to contact someone from The Newsroom Team. Thanks for all of your hard work and happy editing!

A tag has been placed on Beaches Adult Soccer League requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, society, or group that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. 2019 US Banknote Contest

[edit]
US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here
