"Thank you for experimenting"?

[edit]

What the hell? I made a genuine edit to the Internet Slang page and you're talking about experimentation and editing my addition out? Focus on vandals rather than people adding worthy content to the site, mate. 80.47.216.89 01:46, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Adding "what maddox is" to the '1337' section doesn't count as "worthy content", it's vandalism ShakingSpirittalk 01:42, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh my god, that wasn't me!!! I added 'postwhore' and explained what it means. Granted, for some reason there seems to be a problem with the page when I make the edit, but I'm trying to add a genuine piece of internet slang to the page.

I assure you, the "what maddox is" comment isn't me. You can click on my IP address and see the changes I've made, and you'll see that at no point did I add that. So an apology and acknowledgement that I've done nothing wrong will be very welcome.

PS: Could you sort out my addition to the 'P' category, please? For some reason it's coming up with some sort of error. I've typed it out exactly as other entries appear to be, with an asterisk for a bullet point and the three apostrophes either side of a word to bold it, but it seems to be going wrong. 80.47.216.89 01:46, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Here is the edit I reverted: [1]. Notice that there's nothing at all to do with 'postwhore' there. I've fixed the bottom of the P section, though you'll probably want to add a citation for it.ShakingSpirittalk 01:51, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Update - I've just looked at the user contribution log for my IP address and it does indeed say that the "what maddox is" comment was made from this IP address. But I assure you it wasn't me. It seems like a great coincidence that two people with the same IP address have edited the same page, but I assure you I was making worthwhile edits while this other person is the idiot vanadalising the page.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for Wikipedia and the people who work hard to make sure it is a useful resource for readers. I spend many hours a week reading Wikipedia pages, without ever vanadalising the site. 80.47.216.89 01:52, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In which case you should probably make your own account, so mixups like that don't happen again! ^_^ ShakingSpirittalk 01:55, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

vandlizing?

[edit]

Was the "vandalizing" of the Dani Filth Wiki the quote consisting of cuss words or something? If so, I can remove that. The rest of it was simply just organizing the information already there around. Unless there was something else. Which I don't see why there would be. --Nevela 01:50, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries when reverting

[edit]

Hi ShakingSpirit. In reference to the edit summary for your recent reversion of the Jessica Simpson article:

 (Reverted edits by 211.28.44.247 to last version by Large farva)

I've noticed that the edit summaries for many reversions have exactly that same format. Did you type that text in manually or is there some tool/shortcut to generate an edit summary like that when reverting a page? Thanks. --DH85868993 02:17, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DH85868993, thanks for your interest in fighting vandalism on Wikipedia! In answer to your question, no, I don't type it out each time; I use the 'Admin-like RC Patrol tools' addon which gives extra buttons to your wikipeda pages that let you revert pages and fight vandalism much more efficiently ^_^ There are a lot of anti-vandal scripts and suchlike out there, but personally I think VoA's are the best; you can easily enable them for yourself by editing your User:DH85868993/monobook.js and adding:
 //<nowiki> Admin-like RC Patrol tools
 document.write('<script type="text/javascript" src="'
            + 'http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:VoA/monobook.js'
            + '&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript&dontcountme=s"></script>');
 //</nowiki>
Then refresh the page, and you should have a few extra buttons around the screen ^_^ If you decide you don't like it, simply remove it from your monobook.js and refresh again. Hope this helped, and drop me a message if you have any questions! ShakingSpirittalk 02:31, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No no no, look, if you're going to warn someone for vandalism, first you need to sign your comments. Next, you need to use a readymade tag, such as {{blatantvandal}}. And lastly, find someone who is actually a vandal; your attempt to 'scare' me is pitiful ^_^ As long as you keep vandalising pages, I'll keep reverting them. Hames edit

[edit]

I am unclear on why you decided to revert my Hams edit. Indescrimantly sending missles in a soviergn nation and sending homicide bombers into that nation are acts of terrorism. The leading democracy in the world brands Hamas a terrorist group.Preform 01:14, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You already have some NPOV warnings (with four you can be banned), and editing articles for the sole purpose of relabeling a side 'terrorists' wont win you any favors. The differance between a terrorist and a freedom fighter is entirely down to personal opinion, and in Wikipedia we need to give the facts without taking sides or bias. Warning vandals

[edit]

Hi! I'm not sure if you realized this, but you just sent out a series of level 1 warnings to User talk:82.109.66.148. The vandalism was ongoing; each new warning should have increased in level. (I mention this because I noticed another user a few minutes ago where you sent a level 3 warning, then three minutes later you sent the same user a level 1 warning for re-vandalizing the same article.) -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 15:10, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, in the time you were writing that I added another warning, and reported him. He's now blocked.
I know the warnings should go 1,2,3,4, but my script is deciding to only remember the warnings I've already placed half the time, and so it resets back to a level 1 again -_- Will have to keep my eye on what it's doing ShakingSpirittalk 15:15, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism warning to Imasuper (talk · contribs) regarding Dell Schanze

[edit]

I recently removed a warning you added to Imasuper (talk · contribs) regarding edits made to the Dell Schanze article. The issue at hand is a biography of a living person, and you are reverting edits most likely made by the subject of the article himself, attempting in good faith (even if totally inconsistent with Wikipedia policies) to remove or correct information he considers libelous. Per WP:BLP in this sort of circumstance, a lot of leeway is due the subject because reverting these sorts of edits and calling them "vandalism" is just the sort of thing that gets the Wikimedia foundation in legal trouble. Bob Livingston

[edit]

Hello ShakingSpirit. My name is Bob Livingston. I am a different Bob Livingston than the ones Wikepedia has listed. I tried to add a listing for myself. You have left a message saying you cannot post my listing. I am a musician, singer-songwriter from Austin, Texas and have played and recorded with many, many of musicians and recorded hundreds of records. Jerry Jeff Walker, whom I have been associated with for 35 years is in your listings as are several more of my compadres. How can I write my listing so you will accept it? I don't fully understand your concerns. Please help me overcome! Crack Epidemic Page

[edit]

Can you do me a favor and keep an eye on the Crack epidemic page. I am not always online. An anonymous user changed the information on the page to incorrect information. The information that was changed was cited information from government websites and other sources which cited were the worst epidemic problems were. The anonymous user changed the cities from Houston, Newark NJ, and others to San Diego. And he also changed the state that was cited as having the worst epidemic problem, New York to California. This was quoted and cited info that he changed. I am assuming he is from california and wishes that his or her state get the notorious rep. Here is the changes he made http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Crack_epidemic&diff=92810763&oldid=92482864, I reverted them, but he may come back later. Adding an image to a wikipedia article is easy, simply add [[Image:Example.jpg]] (replacing 'example.jpg' with the name of your picture).
To tag the picture you uploaded as 'public domain', add the {{pd-self}} tag. I've done this for you on SSPX0265.jpg ^_^ ShakingSpirittalk 06:58, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AWB 2

[edit]

Hi there, another AWB question. It removed the anime-stub tag on the bottom of the Bokura ga Ita article. The article is assessed as a stub, so I was wondering why the tag was removed? I mean, what's the logic that triggers this removal through AWB (like 'if x category then...')? Ninja neko 19:44, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AWB removes stub tags based on the article's size, and doesn't check to see what its wikiproject assessment is. WP:STUB says that a stub is normally classed as "three to ten short sentences", which Bokura ga Ita just nudges over. Personally I don't feel that the article is a stub, but you've obviously had more experience with this particular article than I, so if you feel the tag should be re-added, I wont stand in your way ^_^ ShakingSpirittalk 20:23, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Using Tables

[edit]

I know a lot about html but have a lacking of Wikicode knowledge. Can you explain about tables, div tags in Wikicode, etc... On another note i don't know how to do userboxes and for my userpage that would be good! RedSkunk 23:54, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, the joys of tables! I've always used DIVs and CSS for website layouts, so wikicode's HTML-like table code was all greek to me, but thankfully it's pretty simple to get the hang of ^_^ Help:Table has basically everything you could need, if you have any questions on the specifics, let me know!
DIV tags work exactly as they do in HTML, so to add inline CSS code you can just do <div style="css-code:here;">Foobar</div>
Userboxes are really really easy to do; either just add the template of the userbox you want to your page (e.g {{user AGF}}), or to make your own just use the Userbox template (e.g {{subst:Userbox|id=[[Image:Crystal_kthememgr.png|42px]]|id-c=#d0e5f5|id-fc=#000|id-s=16|info=This user is [[User:Redskunk|Redskunk]], who is learning userboxes!|info-c=#f1f5fc|info-fc=#000|info-s=8|border-c=#abd5f5|border-s=1}}
Personally I always use the Userbox template and (re)make my own userboxes, because not all ready-made userboxes are the same size, and when some are larger than others I think it looks messy. Also, I like to have them all using my colour scheme ^_^ But it's really just down to personal preference.
Hope you got that, and merry Christmas! ShakingSpirittalk 23:25, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You too!!! Can you still use divs to make boxes? RedSkunk 23:37, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed you can, do something like <div style="background-color: green; width: 100px; padding: 10px; border: red 2px dashed;">Merry Christmas</div>, which gives:
Merry Christmas
