Catalan culture challenge
2nd edition. Feb 21- March 6, 2016
Welcome to the Wikipedia writing contest around Catalan culture!
Challenge is over. Thank you all for your participation
What: This is a public writing competition around Catalan culture. The goal of this second edition is to improve and translate this list of topics related with Catalan Medieval period and Ramon Llull into as many languages as possible. Winners will get Prizes and Barnstars. 2016 is the "Ramon Llull Year", organized to celebrate the seventh centenary of Ramon Llull's death. Program includes conferences, exhibitions, concerts, academic and educational projects to outreach the life and work of Ramon Llull in all its aspects. That's why this Catalan Culture Challenge edition is based on Ramon Llull and other Catalan Medieval figures. Ramon Llull has been one of the greatest exponents of culture and thought in Europe. His works, written mainly in Catalan and Latin, and probably also in Arabic, have had a great influence among other great thinkers, from the same fourteenth century to the present day. His books have been published and translated into dozens of languages and research on his figure is taking place worldwide.
When: The writing challenge will run from 00:01 Feb 21 until 23:59 March 6 2016 (CETUTC+01:00).
How: The contest is simple in structure, based on a KISS point system: You get points while improving articles, with the goal for each participant to gain as many points as possible.
Who: Everybody can help in any language to collaborate on writing and/or translating articles related to Catalan culture. Any Wikipedian with a named account (on any wiki) can participate. To participate you just need to sign up on the Participants section.
Why: The contest is organized and led by Amical Wikimedia: Our primary mission and goal is for the sum of all human knowledge to be available in Catalan and for all knowledge about Catalan culture to also be available in every language. This project is one of our international steps.
Credits: This challenge is organized by Amical Wikimedia in collaboration with Institut Ramon Llull. This is an open challenge. If your organisation or institution also wants to collaborate with this contest, please contact us.
