I am a psychology student studying Motivation and Emotion at the University of Canberra.

The Book Chapter I am working on is Coercive Control in intimate partner relationships: What role does coercive control play in intimate partner relationships, and how can it be addressed?

I am a retired secondary education teacher and case manager. My work history is primarily in student welfare, working with at-risk youth and learners with disabilities. For the past 30 years, I have worked in both mainstream and alternate education settings in behaviour management, including youth detention and mental health facilities. I am a qualified counsellor, and currently volunteer as a case manager in a residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility, with women who are working towards restoration of their children, post detention.

I am in my final year of study and I am particularly interested in forensic psychology (hence the scattering of law subjects I have additionally studied).

I have taken some time to complete my degree due to chronic illness. However, I believe my love of learning (and my family) is what has kept my interest high.

I also hold a Master of Education (Wellbeing), Master of Youth Studies, Graduate Diploma in Counselling, Diploma of Counselling, Diploma of Community Services (Case Management), and a Certificate IV in Mental Health.

I am the first in my family to complete a tertiary education (other than my children now), and the first in my family to have kept my family together. Every generation before me, and including me, have been stolen or removed, and raised under the care of the NSW State Government.

Hobbies

[edit | edit source]

I am a Burramuttagal woman living off country on Ngunnawal land (Yass, NSW) with my husband, eight children (aged 14 to 28), and herd of 10 retired racehorses, heavy breeds and brumbies. I have family history in harness racing, droving, heavy horse work and natural horsemanship. I am also interested in animal husbandry, and keep coloured merino sheep, and heritage breed chickens (I occasionally enter my breeding stock into local poultry shows).

I enjoy reading non-fiction and spending time with my two grandchildren.

Added this page to my watch list. Couldn't find anything to add or improve, but I really liked the layout and the clarity in the way the information was presented.
