Compare Proto-Tai *klwɯəᴬ (salt), whence Thai เกลือ (glʉʉa), Zhuang gyu (Schuessler, 2007). Possibly connected to (OC *raːʔ, “salty”). Possible allofams or variants are (OC *ŋ̊ʰjaːɡ, “saline”) and (OC *sjaːɡ, “saline land”).
