Brianus Houghton Hodgson

Brianus, vulgo Brian Houghton Hodgson (Prestbury in oppido natus die 1 Februarii 1801 vel fortasse 1800; Londinii mortuus die 23 Maii 1894) fuit anthropologus, naturalista et magistratus Indiae Britannicae.

Alumnus fuit collegii Haileyburiensis (ubi Thomae Roberti Malthus discipulus fuit), unde in Indiam annum agente duodevicesimum profectus studia apud collegium Arcis Gulielmi persecutus est. Calcuttae, deinde Kumaon in pago, mox in Nepaliam missus est ubi ab anno 1829 Catmandi in urbe legatus imperii Britannici iuxta regem Rajendra Bikram Shah usque in 1844 meruit. Ab anno insequenti usque in 1858 Darjeeling, postea Londinii habitans rebus humanis et naturalibus Himalayarum studebat.
