Ioannes Churchillus,[1] primus dux Marlburiensis[2] (natus Devoniae 26 Maii 1650; Berceriae mortuus 16 Iunii 1722), fuit supremus exercituum Anglicorum dux inter bellum de successione Hispanica, legatus Anglicus in Nederlandiam anno 1701 creatus, et vir publicus.

Dux Marlburienis quinque regibus servivit. "Corporalia Ioannes" cognominatus est.[3]

Ioannes Churchillus natus est die 26 Maii 1650. Pater regem inter bellum civile Anglicum vehementer defendit, et familia Churchilliensis vitam pessimam traxit[4] in interregno Anglico. Post excidium rei publicae Anglicae, familia habebat patrocinium regis Caroli II[5]. Ioannes Churchillus studuit Universitate Oxoniensis[6]. Fuit doctissimus in mathematica, philosophiam, Latina et Graeca Antiqua item[7]. Αnnο 1678 Saram Jenyns (Jennings) in matrimonium duxit.

Post restaurationem Stuartorum Ioannes Churchillus participavit in bello secundo Angliae contra Nederlandiam. Αnno 1689 hic dominus audiebat Gulielmo, procuratori rei publicae Bataviae, capere imperium regni Anglici. Sed novus rex Angliae Ioannem in odio habuit. Hic vir pugnavit in bello de successione Hispanica. Victoria maxima ducis in hoc bello fuit victoria in pugna Blindchaemis anno 1704. Vicit pugnas Audenarde, Malplaquet.

Ioannes Churchillus mortuus 16 Iunii 1722 est.

Macaleus Thomas Babingtonus, historicus Anglicus clarus, descripsit Churchillo monstro. Is putavit Churchillum fuisse inimucum Angliae[8].
