Proposals for closing projects/Closure of Rhaetian Wiktionary

I propose to close this discussion within seven days from now, unless there are objections. --Johannes Rohr 06:48, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

In the Rhaetian Wiktionary are only NO articles (rm:wikt:Special:Allpages - without spam and Main Page). Active users don't seem to exist and there is some spam. There's really NO activity; in the last 120 days there was only spam and deletions. --MF-Warburg 16:40, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

General discussion
[edit]- It seems that the only reliable users working on this language are those participating to other wiktionaries on which they are patiently adding translations from their local language, and sometimes adding articles with their own definitions.
- It will be easier for now to work on these other wikis (notably the largest ones: English and French, but also most probably the Chinese and Hindi editions) where the source articles are patroled, and spamming is easier to detect with more active patrolers.
- Nothing will prevent, later, to reopen this Tibetan wiki, first in a limited way where only bots will work while importing the definitions collected from other wikis, and making the created articles initially closed for non-registered users, and see how Tibetan-interested users come back later on this new larger base, to correct/supplement it. If there's then a demonstrated user base, it will be possible to reopen the wiki completely.
- So really, I suggest to Tibetan users to contribute their definitions and translations into the Chinese, Hindi, English and French wiktionnaries of their choice.
- I also suggest creating an external experimental database using bots (but without open editions), to see how large this dictionnary can be. Such experimentation should be made by experimented users that know how to parse the other existing Wiktionnaries, directly from their exported data. May be it's not necessary to open a wiki, but just to offer a readonly view of the Tibetan translation content located in other wiktionaries, where the data effectively comes from. 90.45.115.233 23:15, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
