സൈപ്രസ്, തെക്കൻ കാലിഫോർണിയിലെ ഓറഞ്ച് കൌണ്ടിയിലുൾപ്പെട്ട ഒരു നഗരമാണ്. 2010 ലെ യു.എസ്. സെൻസസ് പ്രകാരം ഈ നഗരത്തിലെ ജനസംഖ്യ 47,802 ആയിരുന്നു.
ചരിത്രം
[തിരുത്തുക]ഈ പ്രദേശത്തു ജീവിച്ചിരുന്ന ആദിമനിവാസികളായ ടോങ്ക്വാ തദ്ദേശീയ ഇന്ത്യൻ വർഗ്ഗം അറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നത് ഗബ്രിയേലെനോ എന്നായിരുന്നു. യൂറോപ്യൻമാരുടെ വരവോടെ ഈ ജനവിഭാഗം ഇവിടെ നിന്നു പറിച്ചുമാറ്റപ്പെട്ടു.1821 ൽ മെക്സിക്കോയ്ക്ക് സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം ലഭിക്കുന്നതുവരെ സ്പെയിൻ സർക്കാരിൻറെ കൈവശമായിരുന്നു ഈ ഭൂമി. ബിയർ ഫ്ലാഗ് റിവോൾട്ട്, മെക്സിക്കൻ-അമേരിക്കൻ യുദ്ധം എന്നിവയ്ക്കു ശേഷം അൾട്ടാ കാലിഫോർണിയയുടെ നിയന്ത്രണം മെക്സിക്കോക്ക് നഷ്ടപ്പെടുകയും അമേരിക്കൻ ഐക്യനാടുകളുടെ നിയന്ത്രണത്തിലാകുകയും ചെയ്തു. യഥാർത്ഥ സ്പാനിഷ് പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ കാലിഫോർണിയയിലുടനീളം വൻതോതിൽ ഭൂമി കൈയ്യടക്കിയിരുന്നു. ഇത് സ്പാനിഷ് സൈനികർക്ക് വേതനത്തിനു പകരമായി നൽകപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.
