Kot bajang

Kot bajang (tailcoat atau "kot ekor") ialah sejenis baju kot yang bahagian depannya separas pinggang dan belakangnya pula labuh meruncing ke paras paha yang menyerupai ekor burung layang-layang.

Kot bajang berasal dari potongan baju untuk penunggang kuda pada zaman moden awal. Sejak abad ke-18, bagaimanapun, kot bajang berkembang menjadi model utama pakaian formal siang dan malam, selari dengan cara sut lounge menggantikan kot frock (abad ke-19) dan justacorps (abad ke-18).

Oleh itu, kod berpakaian Barat pada abad ke-21 bagi lelaki, hanya dua jenis kot bajang yang masih bertahan:

1. Kot rasmi, sejenis pakaian malam dengan potongan berpinggul di bahagian depan, dipakai untuk white tie formal
2. Kot pagi (atau cutaway dalam Bahasa Inggeris Amerika), sejenis pakaian siang dengan potongan berpinggul runcing di bahagian depan, dipakai untuk pakaian pagi formal

Dalam bahasa basahan tanpa spesifikasi lanjut, "kot ekor" lazimnya memilih kot rasmi (1) malam sebagai white tie.
