ABA League j.t.d. and BC Dubai held a joint press conference on the occasion of joining BC Dubai to the ABA League family.
Dubravko Kmetović, ABA League j.t.d Director:
"First of all I want to wish a warm welcome to our friends from BC Dubai.
ABA League, as an organization and as a basketball competition, has its sports aspect, but also has its business aspect. You are all aware that the financing of sports in this region is not that easy and all of that has its effect on the development of sports in general. Therefore, I would like to say a couple of words about the business aspect. In the past few years, the ABA League has started a journey that has its final goal of achieving stability and profitability for the league itself. Therefore, we have already created a pool of partners, which are all well-known regional companies that have recognized their interest in working together with the ABA League. They have recognized ABA League competitions as a platform for spreading their goals and we are proud to work together with them on achieving our mutual goals. And we are not about to stop now. For the following season, the ABA League has already made agreements with some other global companies who have seen the market potential in this region.
With BC Dubai as part of our family, we have raised the bar, both in sports and business aspects. Our collaboration started with the signing of the contract, and then we moved on to sports part and their inclusion in the competition. Once again, I want to wish them a warm welcome and I hope they will feel comfortable here in the ABA League."
Milija Vojinović, ABA League j.t.d. Sports Director:
"I would also like to use this opportunity to welcome BC Dubai to the ABA League family. They have already played in our U19 championship, which was kind of a pilot program for their induction to the AdmiralBet ABA League. Now, with BC Dubai officially in the AdmiralBet ABA League, and with Spartak Office Shoes as the NLB ABA League 2 champions, we will have 16 teams in the 2024/25 season, instead of 14. Our season calendar will expand as more games will be played, bringing some additional business opportunities for the entire league and its clubs. Also, I firmly believe that BC Dubai will make the competition more competitive and their participation will increase the league's overall quality."
Djordje Djoković, BC Dubai Vice President & CEO:
"I would like to thank the league management for a warm welcome. It is a great honor and a big pleasure that we have completed this long process and that we have finally joined the ABA League family. ABA League is one of the best regional leagues in the world, as we all know how many famous players have spent some part of their careers right here in this league. And, I believe that BC Dubai will represent another step forward in this league's development and basketball in general.
We owe a huge gratitude to the league management and to the clubs who are the league owners as they made it possible for us to become part of such a great competition. We are sure that we will contribute both to sports and to business aspects as spreading the market in the Middle East should bring lot of benefits for all the parties."
Dejan Kamenjasević, BC Dubai General Manager
"I would like to thank everyone in the league for welcoming BC Dubai to the ABA League family. They have recognized our vision and I am very happy that we will be playing in the ABA League in the seasons to come."
