Filmmaker Damien Leone has confirmed that a fourth installment of the “Terrifier” slasher franchise in on the way.
The third film had its premiere last night at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas and during a Q&A for the session, Leone confirmed that “yes there will be a ‘Terrifier 4′”. No further plot specifics were given.
The first film had a small cult following, but the sequel surpassed all expectations last year, reaching $15 million in box office sales from a budget of just $250,000.
A third film was quickly greenlit with David Howard Thornton returning as the silent Art the Clown. Also returning is Lauren LaVera as Sienna, Elliot Fullam as Jonathan Shaw, Samantha Scaffidi as Victoria Heyes and Chris Jericho as Burke.
The films are noted for their extreme gore, grisly kills and over the top special effects. The third film is set on the night of Christmas Eve and sees the likes of Daniel Roebuck, Jason Patric, Antonella Rose and Jon Abrahams joining the fun.
“Terrifier 3” will officially hit theaters on October 11th. No word as to when a fourth one will go into production or be released.
