AEK BETSSON announces that it has signed an agreement with Ricky Ledo and that the American swingman signed a contract until the end of the 2023-2024 season.
The Athens club recently saw Ben McLemore and Mfiondu Kabengele leave the club, joining Rio Breogan and Reyer Venice and reacted by adding the 31-year-old Ledo.
He started his professional career in 2013 when he was selected in the NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks but ended up with the Dallas Mavericks. In his two-year stay in Dallas, Ledo played mainly with the affiliate team, averaging 14.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.6 assists while playing in 14 games with the first team. He finished the 2014-2015 season with the Knicks (7.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists).
In the 2015-2016 season, he played for the Knicks‘ affiliate (21.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists) and the Santeros de Aguada (12.7 points, 4 rebounds, 2.7 assists). In 2016, he was transferred to Turkey and Yesilgiresun, with which he became the league’s top scorer with an average of 21.2 points. The following year he remained in Turkey but on behalf of Anadolu Efes (12.2 points, 5.5 rebounds), before playing in the Bucks‘ affiliate and the Vaqueros de Bayamon in Puerto Rico.
In the 2018-2019 season, the American forward played with Reggio Emilia, in Italy (23.5 points) and Beikong Royal Fighters, in China (33.3 points), while the following year he played in Poland with Anwil Wloclawek’s jersey (16.7 points), winning the Cup. In 2020-2021 it passed Shanxi (China) with 19 points, Fethiye (Turkey) with 20.4 points, and Gigantes de Carolina (Puerto Rico) with 18.4 points. In the previous two years, he has played in the Chinese Guangdong Southern Tigers (17.3 points) and the Turkish Yalova (17.9 points). During the summer he played with Anhui Wenyi, in China, where his last stop was, averaging 22 points.
Ledo will now join the team coached by Spanish tactician Joan Plaza, which punched in a direct ticket to the Round of 16 of the BCL, skipping the Play-In stage, by winning Group D of the Regular Season. From a 5-1 W-L tally to a fresh start in a new six-game round-robin schedule meets UCAM Murcia and two Play-In winners in Group L of the next round.
