‘It’s something I’ll look at’ - Eddie Nketiah responds to Unai Emery over Arsenal future
ARSENAL striker Eddie Nketiah has responded to transfer speculation linking him with a move away leaving Unai Emery with a difficult decision to make.
Arsenal youngster Eddie Nketiah scores stunning goal in training
Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah put on an impressive display against Italian side Fiorentina as the Gunners won 3-0 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The 20-year-old found the back of the net twice as Emery fielded a youthful side against the Serie A team.
Several clubs have been monitoring the young striker for a while and Emery even blocked the player leaving in January when German club Augsburg enquired about taking him on loan.
Nketiah has impressed during Arsenal’s pre-season tour of the United States and already had three goals in two games for the Gunners in the International Champions cup.
After the pre-season tour, it’s something that I’ll look at with my family and speak to the manager and see what’s best for me
Although Championship side Bristol City are keen to sign him, according to the Mirror, the player insists he will wait before making any decision about his future.
“There was talk of [going out on loan] and it was close to happening in January but the club decided that I should stay and I tried to finish the season as strongly as possible,” Nketiah said.
“We’ll see what happens in the future but I’m just enjoying the tour and in the future decisions will be made.
“All I can do is do what I’m doing at the moment, work hard in training, work hard on the pitch, and scoring at the moment. I need to keep pushing, keep working and as for the season I want to be playing regularly.
Arsenal: Emery reveals transfer targets ahead of new season
“After the pre-season tour, it’s something that I’ll look at with my family and speak to the manager and see what’s best for me.
“I feel like I have a great relationship with the fans. It’s nice that they notice that and sing my name. That’s a dream come true. Even out here the fans are screaming my name.
“They travel all around the world to see us play and support us. I always try to give them something back and I’m so grateful that they have taken to me like that as one of the boys from the academy and I hope it can continue.”
Emery is looking to strengthen several areas of his squad this summer, but is reportedly only working with a limited transfer budget of £45million.
However, speaking after their win over Fiorentina the Spaniard insisted the club is looking to add as many as four players to his current squad.
"We are waiting. We have very good players - very good young players,” Emery said.
"Really I am [patient] because we want the best solution. Some players are very expensive and we are waiting for this possibility. We don't want to go to the second line of players.
"We are aware we need to improve some players in this squad. I want to sign one, two, three or four players - but only if we can be sure they are coming to improve our team.
"There are a lot of names. The club is working."
