Is that certain actor really going to go Lead for Season 2? I personally have a very hard time seeing how they’d stretch their material out to justify a Lead campaign, but Brian Cox in Succession Season 4 exists lmao.

Most regular posters are aware of the concern. A few points:
Game 2 is reportedly being adapted over more than one season
Joyce Eng on the GD slugfest says reports of Pascal’s time on set are not founded.
Flashbacks are a thing
I would presume the starting position in the prediction centre is lead and adjusted down if/where appropriate. He is really clearly being positioned career wise as a leading man.
September 20, 2024 at 6:40 pm #1205958420I think HBO will keep them lead given their lack of other options in the category compared to the range of them they’ll have in supporting with The White Lotus.

That all makes sense. I just assumed the win would be much easier if he were at least in Supporting since (I assume, it depends on what they show of the second game) there’s gonna be a lot of the season he’s not in lol
ReplyCopy URLSeptember 20, 2024 at 8:17 pm #1205958503I didn’t get to comment before the last thread closed down, but I just wanted to weigh in on the Yellowjackets placement talk. I think Ricci was supporting in Season 1 and a lead in Season 2. At least as much of a lead as any of the submitted actresses. It may not be a typical lead character, but it’s not like Lynskey was getting any more of a leading showcase than Ricci last season. Honestly, it might be better for Ricci’s chances to submit as a lead. If she did last time, I think she could’ve been nominated alongside or in place of Lynskey — who she actually did better than at the other awards bodies that year — rather than falling behind a White Lotus over-performance.
I don’t think it’s really objectionable category fraud to keep Ricci competing as a supporting actress, but that’s just because Yellowjackets is such an ensemble effort that I don’t think it’s category fraud for anyone in the cast to compete in supporting. Someone said Lynskey and Nelisse are the only leads, but in both timelines there’s clearly a lot more to the story than what’s going on with Shauna. They’re splitting roughly half an episode with each other and still splitting roughly even focus with their costars in those halves.
I also disagree that they shouldn’t have submitted Eaton just because Hewson didn’t submit. They both got upgraded to the main cast in Season 2, but Hewson stayed a fairly secondary character while Eaton’s role expanded and was at the center of the early timeline’s story. I actually thought she was one of the more deserving performances that year. She was never going to get nominated, but I don’t see any issue with giving her a shot, especially since it’s not like most of the submitted performances had much of a chance.

I wonder if any sophomore shows will get the big little Lies, lost, desperate housewives, etc treatment.
