The Gaming & VR Studio at the D. H. Hill Jr. Library is a space for experimenting with virtual and mixed reality hardware, developing exciting new interactive media experiences, and enjoying a deep catalog of VR experiences. Check out all of our Gaming and Virtual Reality services!
The Gaming and VR Studio is staffed whenever it is open, meaning you can find drop-in consultation assistance for projects, technology, and more just by stopping by.
Our Specialty Workstations
Our studio is equipped with three types of desktop workstations built for working with demanding graphics and real-time computing.
Other Technology
The studio is staffed at all times that it is open; we're happy to help you customize any workstation to suite your project's needs. Our "What's Inside" section lists all of the technology that you can access from the space.

How do I reserve and access this space?
First time here?: Only currently affiliated students, faculty, and staff of NC State may gain access to the space. To use the Gaming and VR Studio and reserve workstations, you'll need to complete an online orientation. A Wolfpack One Card is required for entry.
Make a reservation: Four VR Workstations and three Illustration + Modeling Workstations can be reserved by any student, faculty, or staff member who has completed this orientation. Workstations are reserved according to these guidelines.
Drop-in use: Don't have a reservation? That's okay! We have two VR Workstations and five Game Development Workstations set aside for drop-in use.
Access policies
All NC State University Libraries Gaming & VR Studio services and tools are available to all students, faculty, and staff at NC State. You must have a valid Wolfpack One Card and Unity ID. Users must complete a VR Orientation and sign a Gaming & VR Studio User Agreement to use the Gaming & VR Studio.
Priority is given to academic and research use of the VR workstations.
No one under the age of 13 is permitted to use the Gaming & VR Studio equipment.
No food permitted. Drinks with lids are allowed.
No VR sessions may start within 15 minutes of closing.
Users of the Gaming & VR Studio agree to this statement on intellectual property: "I warrant that I am authorized to use the applicable files, data, images, or any other materials (collectively “Content”) in the Gaming & VR Studio and that the use of the Content will not infringe upon any third-party’s copyright, patent, trademark trade secret or other proprietary or intellectual property rights."
Gaming & VR Studio users are expected to follow safety rules and use the Gaming & VR Studio exclusively for lawful purposes that respect the policies of North Carolina State University and the NC State University Libraries as well as the safety and well-being of all students, faculty, staff, and patrons.

How do I get there?
Brickyard Entrance
Elevator
- Enter the Hill Library.
- Go through the library gates and turn right.
- Continue towards the reading room and the elevator bay will be on your left.
- Take the elevator to the first floor.
- Turn right after exiting the elevator bay and follow the balcony around to the Ask Us lobby.
- Turn left to enter the West Wing; the elevator will be on your right.
- Take the elevator to floor 1L.
- Continue straight towards to end of the hallway.
- There will be an elevator on your right near the end of the seating area.
- Take the elevator to the second floor, and turn right.
- Take the hallway on the right and then turn left.
- The Gaming & VR Studio is on your right before the glass doors.
Stairs
- Enter the Hill Library.
- Go through the library gates.
- Take the main stairs to the first floor lobby.
- Turn left and enter the West Wing.
- Continue straight until you see the large staircase.
- Take the stairs to the second floor, and turn left.
- Continue down the hallway stopping before you reach the glass doors.
- The Gaming & VR Studio is the door on the right.
Hillsborough St. Entrance
Elevator
- Enter the Hill Library.
- Go through the library gates and turn left.
- The elevator will be on your left.
- Take the elevator to the second floor, and turn right.
- Take the hallway on the right and then turn left.
- The Gaming & VR Studio is on your right before the glass doors.
Stairs
- Enter the Hill Library.
- Go through the gates and the stairs will be on your right.
- Take these stairs to the second floor, and turn left.
- Continue down the hallway stopping before you reach the glass doors.
- The Gaming & VR Studio is the door on the right.
