Tokyo Olympics Entry Lists Released, Swimming Begins July 24
With the swimming competition at the Tokyo Olympics just 10 days away, FINA has published the official entry list for the eight days and 35 events (including 28 individual events). The list is not formatted as a psych sheet like those seen at most meets in the United States but instead as a list of entries by country and then further listed by event. The list includes the swimmers entered into the Olympics as relay-only competitors

The first 20 pages of that document include women’s entries, and the final 20 pages include men’s entries. The qualifying period for these Olympics stretched more than two years, beginning in March of 2019 and extended due to the COVID-19 pandemic that forced the Olympics to be delayed to 2021.
The only swimmer to be the fastest entered in three individual events is the United States’ Caeleb Dressel, who ranks first during the Olympic qualifying period in the 50 freestyle (21.04), 100 freestyle (46.96) and 100 butterfly (49.50). The only other swimmers ranked first in multiple men’s events are Russia’s Evgeny Rylov (100 backstroke and 200 backstroke) and Italy’s Gregorio Paltrinieri (800 freestyle and 1500 freestyle).
Women seeded first across different events for Tokyo include Australia’s Ariarne Titmus (200 freestyle and 400 freestyle) and Kaylee McKeown (100 backstroke and 200 backstroke), the USA’s Katie Ledecky (800 freestyle and 1500 freestyle), China’s Zhang Yufei (100 butterfly and 200 butterfly) and Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu (200 IM and 400 IM).
As useful a list as one that ordered the competitors by the square root of the number of letters in the name, and for ties counted vowels as two letters.
FINA 🙁
I’ve been searching for a seed list organized by event. It must be out there somewhere.
will there be a psych sheet as we are used to? if so, when will it be available; or will there only be the meet sheet the day of competition?
