"Welcome to the Souvenir Town!" A special town filled with local souvenir from around the country will pop-up for a limited time. Marking the third year, The Souvenir Fair 2024 added the local specialty section, offering visitors high-quality souvenirs using the food and culture known especially for that region. Visitors can enjoy all the charms of Korea by experiencing local culture as well as communicating with sellers. Business to Business (B2B) matching and Business to Consumer (B2C) experience programs will provide detailed insights for those pursuing business in souvenir marketing. A Culinary Treat Unfolds with 2024 Taste of Seoul
Taste of Seoul invites visitors to savor K-food which has captivated the global palate. The food week will be held from November 8 to 14, 2024 at Nodeul Island and various locations across Seoul. The festival begins on November 8 with a kimchi experience program for international visitors at Seoul Gyeongdong Market Youth Mall. Participants can experience everything from purchasing ingredients to making kimchi. People who missed the application deadline can also watch the kimchi-making program as it is held in an open space. “Invitation to the Traveling Market,” a large-scale food market, will be held at Nodeul Island on November 9-10, where visitors can experience local cuisine and shop for fresh agricultural products and locally sourced food. A Korean gourmet workshop will also be held, where visitors can share their stories about Korean food. Additionally, the event features “Seoul Soul Tour,” where the young chefs from the hit Korean show “Culinary Class Wars (2024)” bring a modern twist to classic Korean foods in Seoul such as Sindang-dong tteokbokki, Jangchung-dong jokbal, Jongno bindaetteok; “Seoul Market Tour,” allowing visitors experience grocery shopping to cooking at traditional markets with cooking experts; and “Seoul Gastronomy Tour,” offering visitors a chance to explore renowned restaurants with famous influencers. Curated by 45 gourmet experts, the Seoul Food Guide featuring “100 Taste of Seoul” and “50 Plant-Based Restaurants of Seoul” is now available both in English and Korean on the Taste of Seoul website. Seoul Hongje Waterfall Now Offers Guide Service
Seodaemun-gu, located in the heart of Seoul and home to various historical sites, now offers guided tours and audio guide rental services for global tourists. These services aim to help tourists better understand and enjoy various attractions centered around the Hongje Waterfall, or officially the Hongjecheon Artificial Waterfall , known for its stunning natural surroundings. English-guided tours are offered from Tuesdays to Sundays at 13:00, 14:00, and 15:00, each lasting 30 minutes. Starting from Hongje Waterfall, tourists can follow the trail that takes them past the Waterwheel, Yeonhui Forest Rest Area, Ansan Pond, and Ansan Hwangto Clay Road, uncovering the various stories about the history and culture of Seoul. Visitors can register on-site at Seodaemun Tourist Information Center Hongje Waterfall Branch, with options available for advance and group reservations as well. People who like to travel at their own pace can rent an audio guide, available in English and Chinese, for free at Seodaemun Tourist Information Center Hongje Waterfall Branch from 10:00 to 19:00 every day. Bukchon Hanok Village Restricts Tourist Entry After 17:00
Starting November 1, 2024, tourists are advised not to visit Bukchon Hanok Village in late hours to prevent disturbance to residents, following the new regulation. Designated as the “Red Zone,” residence area behind the Jeongdok Library between Gyeongbokgung Palace and Changdeokgung Palace experiences the highest influx of visitors. All tourists, except those with accommodation or shoppers in the area, are restricted from entering from 17:00 to 10:00 next day. After a grace period until February 2025, a fine of a hundred thousand won will be imposed on those violating the regulation, starting in March 2025. The regulation is introduced to prevent the inconvenience to residents caused by over-tourism such as trespassing, violation of privacy, littering, etc. (* Over-tourism refers to a phenomenon of tourist overcrowding that leads to a negative impact on the local environment and residents’ lives.) Tourists are requested to cooperate and adhere to the regulation to ensure an enjoyable trip for everyone.
