Motivation
[edit]Amazon is a major online vendor, and their product taxonomy assigns a node id to each product category. There are a few online tools to explore such nodes (e.g. https://www.browsenodes.com/) but no public domain dataset with connections to other taxonomies.
The nodes would increase Wikidata connectivity and provide a way to improve the coverage of Wikidata (as it would be easier to identify Amazon categories not present on Wikidata.

Discussion
[edit]- Support Huh, these are stable id's? Is there any possible copyright issue here? Otherwise seems like a good idea. ArthurPSmith (talk) 19:03, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
- @ArthurPSmith: I don't think there is a copyright issue, in the end the nodes are just numeric ids, which are not creative. As for stability, the node "1000" for books has been stable at least since 2007: https://web.archive.org/web/20070216002435/http://www.amazon.com/Subjects-Books/b?ie=UTF8&node=1000. I'd bet most of those are stable to avoid compatibility issue. TiagoLubiana (talk) 14:11, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
- Support This is a great property for such a popular website. -wd-Ryan (Talk/Edits) 03:29, 30 November 2022 (UTC)
- If this is a general Amazon concept the ID should also work for other Amazon websites besides amazon.com. If it's only about Amazon.com, the property name should specify that. ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 22:21, 1 December 2022 (UTC)
- @ChristianKl: Good point. Indeed, these nodes are only for Amazon.com; I'll change the name accordingly. TiagoLubiana (talk) 14:11, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
