Motivation
[edit]based on a previous proposal, which didn't get through because nobody bothered to find another solution. The resolution has width and height, I don't know if it should be restricted to pixels or allow others as well (inches, meter, cm, mm, etc.). I'm open to ideas considering that screens may not be rectangular in the future, but also round or curvy. Germartin1 (talk) 09:08, 10 October 2018 (UTC
Discussion
[edit]- I feel like there should be an existing way to do this. Maybe as height (P2048) qualifier to has part(s) (P527), or applies to part, aspect, or form (P518) qualifier to height (P2048), or something? --Yair rand (talk) 14:04, 10 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Yair rand: You're right it's already possible with applies to part, aspect, or form (P518): touchscreen (Q165970), but I will become too nested. I think it's good to have subproperty for this, given the many uses. Germartin1 (talk) 14:41, 10 October 2018 (UTC)
- Comment I'd be more willing to support this if the scope was expanded to cover other resolutions, such as the output size for photographs from cameras. An example with Canon EOS 40D (Q64115):
- <resolution width> 3888 pixel (Q355198) <applies to part, aspect, or form (P518)> output (Q30141281)
- <resolution height> 2592 pixel (Q355198) <applies to part, aspect, or form (P518)> output (Q30141281)
- <resolution width> 320 pixel (Q355198) <applies to part, aspect, or form (P518)> liquid-crystal display (Q83341)
- <resolution height> 240 pixel (Q355198) <applies to part, aspect, or form (P518)> liquid-crystal display (Q83341)

- That's a good idea, but as most phones have a front-facing camera (Q21286160), output (Q30141281) might be to ambiguous Germartin1 (talk) 15:03, 14 October 2018 (UTC)
