Motivation
[edit]This is less subjective than sleeping capacity. Maybe this is superfluous when we can add area -> 12m2 -> applies to part -> floor --So9q (talk) 14:56, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
- This is useful when I'm adding campsites with lean-to shelters to describe the shelters floorsize without having to create a new part-of item just for the lean-to only to describe the area of the floor.--So9q (talk) 14:07, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- Maybe we can find a way to make it more clear in the label that only unhindered floor counts? ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 10:49, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
- How does this relate to http://dbpedia.org/ontology/Building/floorArea ? ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 10:52, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
- It's the same. It's not unhindered floor space, besides unhindered is a hard to define because you can sleep with legs under a table/bench quite easily so I abandoned that and instead model as benched lean-tos. The data consumers will have no way of determining whether you can sleep in the benched lean-to though (short of having an AI a foto from the front).--So9q (talk) 14:11, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
- For what it's worth, we only have about three items that use "determination method: floor area" (query), so it looks like "area" isn't really being used for this purpose. I would support this if it's clear that it's able to be used for all kinds of floor area, not just the context of sleeping areas in shelters? Andrew Gray (talk) 22:58, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
- Yes it is for all kinds. --So9q (talk) 21:10, 18 June 2020 (UTC)
- @So9q: Great. I've tweaked the domain above. Andrew Gray (talk) 15:08, 22 June 2020 (UTC)
- Support in the form that goes for all buildings and thus is equivalent to the prior art of http://dbpedia.org/ontology/Building/floorArea . ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 10:13, 19 June 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose What benefit does this property proposal provide over use of area (P2046)? For example, has part(s) (P527) floor (Q217164) with qualifier of area (P2046). Dhx1 (talk) 16:47, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
- @dhx1: It makes it easier to specify without trixing with has "part of the class" as seen here: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q96472107 --So9q (talk) 20:51, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose Should we follow the same criteria for every sizing dimension ? For instance, Q12514#P2049 or Q44991996#P2048. I don't think so. Regarding area, you may use Q9188#P2046 formua, too. A good use of qualifiers reduces the number of ultra-specific properties. Amadalvarez (talk) 11:20, 4 September 2020 (UTC)
- Support Could give a better discrimination with area (P2046). --Fralambert (talk) 22:10, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
