Motivation
[edit]Inverse of modified version of (P5059), as has edition or translation (P747) is to edition or translation of (P629). Could be a subproperty of has edition or translation (P747). Jc86035 (talk) 14:39, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- Oppose I really don't like us continuing to add inverses like this, and the other direction is cleaner in a case like this (many to one rather than one to many). Do you have a clear example where it would really be helpful? There's a piece of user-written javascript you can use to automatically see properties on an item from the reverse direction if you want (or there are tools like Reasonator and of course WDQS). - @ArthurPSmith: Does has edition or translation (P747) need to exist? The relationship is the same, especially for works which the original author/artist has modified into a new work which has its own item (and in my understanding if a work is similar enough to be modified version of (P5059) then it should be similar enough to be linked from the original item). Wikipedia articles tend to mention important derivative works (I believe this applies to all four examples above), and if showing these is actually unnecessary then has edition or translation (P747) should be deleted. - I'd be in favor of removing has edition or translation (P747), but it's an older property so I don't particularly mind it being grandfathered in. At least it's slightly more constrained as to number of likely values than this proposed property would be. ArthurPSmith (talk) 18:42, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
