Primary type information: Primary type material: lectotype worker (by designation of Francoeur, 1973: 67). Primary type locality: lectotype U.S.A.: Nebraska, 11.xi.1883, no.161 (T. Pergande). Primary type depository: MSNG. Secondary type information: Secondary type material: 33 paralectotype workers. Secondary type locality: same as for lectotype. Secondary type depositories: AFPC, LACM, MCZC, MSNG, USNM. Type notes: 1) The original description cites only 3 worker syntypes, but Francoeur, 1973 gives a total of 34 type specimens. The lectotype data given here is that provided by Francoeur, 1973, but some suspicion remains that this may not be the original type series, especially as Emery, 1893k gives the locality only as Nebraska (T. Pergande). 2) Francoeur, 1975: 259, cites 1 worker Nebraska, West Point (MSNG).
