Hello George, this file, I would like to see renamed. Would File:KTHMA EΣ AEI (1922).pdf be a suitable name or would you suggest something else? Thank you so much for your time. Lotje (talk) 09:00, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Greetings, Lotje. It should be ΚΤΗΜΑ ΕΣΑΕΙ. "ΕΣΑΕΙ" is one word and means "forever" or "for all eternity." Cheersǃ George E. Koronaios (talk) 22:11, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks George, as that is the title of the book (artistic license, misspelling?) I prefer leaving it as it is. These these GROUP OF NATIVS TAKE IN 'KTEMA make me curious too. Have an enjoyable day ahead George   Lotje (talk) 04:03, 4 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sure, Lotjeǃ You tooǃ ː-) Κτήμα in modern Greek is any land own by anybody and used for pasturage or cultivation. The term could be used in old Greek to described the ownership over anything including a living being. In this case my assumption is that this is the name of a place. This is why it has been written with a capital letter. On the other hand it could be the formal name of a specific piece of land used by the locals and written with a capital letter due to its prominence. George E. Interesting, very good to know. Thanks George. Lotje (talk) 07:57, 4 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Always a pleasureǃ George E. Koronaios (talk) 12:29, 4 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Category:Acharnean Street

edit

Hello George, is this street somehow related to Acharnae? Cheers. Lotje (talk) 05:10, 8 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Acharnae was one of the districts of ancient Athens. The street was named after it because it led to it. There was also an Acharnaean gate the remains of which just like those of the street in the image are located in modern-day Kotzia Square. Cheersǃ George E. Koronaios (talk) 05:42, 8 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you so much for confirming George. :-) Lotje (talk) 13:06, 8 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hope this is a correct interpretation... Enjoy the rest of your day George. Lotje (talk) 13:13, 8 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, it is. By the way, the district survives to our day. It is a "region" though within the region of Attica. You too, Lotjeǃ George E. Koronaios (talk) 14:16, 8 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Asopos (Boeotia)

edit

Hello George, would you happen to confirm this is a viaduc related to this specific river? Thanks and cheers. :-) Lotje (talk) 13:06, 12 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

I have never been there and I have not read anything related to the subject, so I cannot confirm it. ː-( It looks legit to me, though. George E. Koronaios (talk) 19:33, 12 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Good morning George, I added the category to it, because also I am convinced this is the same river.  :-) Thanks and have an enjoyable Sunday. Lotje (talk) 03:38, 13 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Skoufou Street

edit

Only me again George, Skoufou Street at night on September 6, 2024 as well as the other images could all be added to the same category, if only I would know how to name it. What would you suggest? Thanks. Lotje (talk) 13:31, 12 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

These are all on the same street. The first image is the street itself at night. The others are architectural elements on the facade of a derelict old building on the same street. You can partially see it in the fisrt image to the left of the red sign. George E. Koronaios (talk) 19:24, 12 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks George, would Category:Odos Skoufou (Plaka) be suitable then?   Lotje (talk) 03:41, 13 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Actually, a street with a cap hahahaha Lotje (talk) 03:45, 13 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
HAHAHA if only it was named after itǃ Sadly, it is something more prosaic. ;-) My assumptions is this (https://el.wikipedia.org/wiki/%CE%93%CE%B5%CF%8E%CF%81%CE%B3%CE%B9%CE%BF%CF%82_%CE%A3%CE%BA%CE%BF%CF%8D%CF%86%CE%BF%CF%82). Category:Odos Polygnotou (Plaka)

edit

Hello George, wonder if the street has been named after Polygnotos (vase painter). Thank you so much for your time. Cheers Lotje (talk) 11:55, 22 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

If I were to make an assumption I would say it is more probable that is is the other (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polygnotus) because in the vicinity of Polygnotou Street is what was once thought to be the Poikile Stoa (which "my" Polygnotus had decorated) but now it is acknowledged that it is the Library of Pantainus. It is my assumption, though and nothing more. George E. Koronaios (talk) 21:53, 22 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you so msuch George. Some more interesting history to read for me :-) Lotje (talk) 03:54, 23 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
