Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

hallo silverije, erstmal danke für deine mitteilung deiner emotion für die fotos - ozalj - , finde ich auch, leider geben sie nur einen teil wieder. bern kommt nicht aus bern, sondern aus deutschland und ein hard spare ich, immerhin 4 buchstaben mehr bzw weniger beim schreiben. verstehe dich nicht, was du meinst bzgl hilfe ? Übersetzen in die jeweilige sprache ? stimmt da könnte ich manchmal hilfe benötigen. bilder liegen immer im blick eines betrachters, da dieser ort ein stück heimat ( wahlheimat ) ist, schaut man/n vielleicht auch auf " nebensächlichkeiten " die einen ort / gegend / .... ausmachen. Lg in den norden Bern_Bartsch

Ja ne razumem stvarno zašto tebi smetaju mape? A vi što stavljate da je Hrvatska u 10. veku držala Bosnu, to nikon ništa, ČAK I AKO VAŠ IZVOR PORFIROGENIT KAŽE DA JE BOSNA U STASTAVU SRBIJE.

Ovu mapu si takodje stavio da je netačna, a radio ju je Novaković Relja, jedan od najboljih srpskih istoričara svog vremena. I mogao bi malo da pogledaš izvore koje sam stavio umesto da staviš da je netačna. MilosHaran (talk) 13:37, 19 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Wikimedia Commons does not accept fair use content.

We do this because Commons is a shared media repository. Downstream wikis have different policies based on local laws. Uses that are acceptable under US law, for example, may not be acceptable in many other countries with more restrictive rules.

In addition, fair use is not compatible with our aim as a collection of freely distributable media files.

Therefore, Commons cannot legally rely on fair use provisions.

Non-free content that may be used with reference to fair use may be uploaded locally if your project allows this.

Nisam najbolje vidio, vjerojatno sam bio umoran, mislio sam da je bio slučaj kao sa onim mojim zadnjim fileom, pojavio se problemčić odmah kod uploada, jednostavno sam kod jednog od par mojih vlastitih fotki zaboravio postaviti licencu i robot je odmah našao. To sam odmah ispravio bez problema. Inače svi drugi koje si vidio su sa Flickra i to su tuđe fotke, a i meni osobno bile su nekako na granici uvjeta da zadovolje licence, neke su prošle naknadnu procjenu, neke nisu. Za neke nisam niti skužio, kao za Hello Kitty gdje se previše vidjela ona mačkica na jednoj majici izloženoj ispred trgovinice u Dubrovniku. Zauzimala je oko 20 do 25% slike i to je bilo previše jer onda narušava copyright.

Kasnije sam detaljno proanalizirao problem oko tvoje fotke i zaključio da je najvjerojatnije pogriješio robot, te sam se uključio u raspravu. Ma zeznulo me što sam se navikao gledati ono "own" te se uvijek slagalo da je također postavljena licenca. Na starom kompu sam imao šprancu za unos i link za direktno uploadanje, te sam samo izeditirao ono što je potrebno, tako sam puno manje griješio. Nisam htio žuriti, ali mi se čini da nisi primijetio kako si spomenut ovdje: [1]. Tamo je i rješenje. Kada sam ja zaboravio kliknuti za licencu, isto tako "nije mi uneslo". Usporedbom dva svoja filea, dobrog i problematičnog skužio sam što nedostaje. Tako sam i sada usporedio dva tvoja filea. Inače koristimo istu licencu. Iako si iskusan korisnik svejedno ću napisati i ono očigledno, tako da bude što manje "pimplanja". Nedostaje ti cijelo poglavlje:

Ako smijemo (a prema licenci fotografije mislim da smijemo, ali nisam siguran) voljeli bi vašu fotografiju šibenske katedrale uvrstiti na jednu od karata u našoj društvenoj igri Bon Voyage koju mislimo kao hrvatski suvenir izdati 2023. godine? Na karti fotografije svakako bi bila vaša atribucija, a na linku i ostali podaci.

Pozdrav,

Hvala na poruci. Nisam u potpunosti siguran o kojoj se fotografiji šibenske katedrale radi, pa bih te molio poveznicu. Ali u svakom slučaju, što se tiče mojih fotografija na Wikimediji Commons, sve su one slobodne, ne treba nikakva licenca. Ja postavljam ("uploadam") fotografije zato jer volim i želim surađivati, te unaprijediti i obogatiti Wikimediju Commons, koliko je to u mojoj mogućnosti. Što se tiče imena i prezimena, dovoljan je samo moj suradnički pseudonim Silverije, koji je isti već skoro 14 godina, i po čemu me mnogi znaju, a potječe od jednog pape iz 6. stoljeća, Silveriusa. Kroz cijelo to vrijeme imao sam mnoga dobra i loša iskustva na Wikipediji. Među loša spadaju i ona s hakerima koji su me pratili i koji me prate i sada, te mi otežavaju rad. Najviše je onih iz srpskog ekstremističkog miljea, koji sve što je hrvatsko nazivaju ustaškim. Stoga je sasvim dovoljno da su javnosti dostupni oni podatci koji su na mojoj suradničkoj stranici. Tim više što mnogi drugi suradnici nemaju nikakve podatke o sebi, pa čak ni mnogi administratori (osobito na Wikipediji na drugim jezicima). Neki se očito skrivaju jer imaju nečistu savjest, a neki zato da bi mogli biti nekorektni ili čak bezobrazni. Ja na sreću nemam tih problema. You are receiving this message because we noticed that you previously voted in the Picture of the Year contest. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2023) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
