Thanks for uploading File:David Edström Ofelia Thielska 90.tif. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

License tag found in history, and added back to the page along with categories. @Killarnee: Is that enough to keep the image? /Axel Pettersson (WMSE) (talk) 16:33, 17 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
Yes, it should be okay. Please also note Com:TIFF. --Killarnee (T12) 16:53, 17 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Killarnee! I'll notify the user behind this account. Should I read com:TIFF as a recommendation to use other formats (.jpg or .png) for all images or only photos of sculptures? /Axel Pettersson (WMSE) (talk) 14:45, 18 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
When displaying Tiff there are often problems, which is why you should upload the high-resolution Tiff version and also a version in another common format. It doesn't matter what the picture represents and PNG is the preferred format. --Killarnee (T12) 17:22, 18 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I was wondering do you know if this portrait by Cranach that you uploaded to commons Image:Attributed to Lucas Cranach the Elder Portrait of the Duchess Catherine Thielska 78.tif if this is Catherine of Mecklenburg wife of Henry IV, Duke of Saxony? Robert102506 (talk) 16:37, 7 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Robert102506 The person who was using this account is no longer working at Thielska galleriet, but I've asked other people there. Hoping to come back with an answer soon. /Axel Pettersson (WMSE) (talk) 12:02, 10 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Robert102506 Positive confirmation from staff at Thielska galleriet that you are right. I added SDC and category, but please add info to the description and if needed elsewhere. Thanks for looking into it. /Axel Pettersson (WMSE) (talk) 09:44, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
