This institution doesn't exist any more, so how can it have its own institution template? Vincent Steenberg (talk) 22:35, 16 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Vincent Steenberg: The fact it doesn't exist anymore, doesn't make it to be not an institution. A museum is foremostly it's collection. Institutions trace the decent of their collections by name of it's former locations and/or ownership. The template in this case also helps to identify a historical collection, which was later distributed over a number of museums, or sold. Is there any rule the template can only be used for existing institutions ? If not, perhaps in the template a new line should be added below established, namely: date closed. In the case the community disagrees with me: Maybe a new template could be created for historical institutions, that have been closed ? --oSeveno (talk) 11:37, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
For those who do not speak the Dutch language: Koninklijk Kabinet van Zeldzaamheden translates: Royal Cabinet of Rarities. --oSeveno (talk) 11:40, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hello OSeveno. Sorry, but in the documentation it says that this is an ‘Institution page template, intended for use in "institution" field of {{Artwork}} and {{Photograph}}’. At the moment the template is not being used anywhere else, but on its home category. Since the collection of this museum can now be found in a range of other institution, I'm quite confident this template will never be used. The "institution" field of {{Artwork}} is intended for the present whereabouts of an item. Former collections and institutions can be mentioned in the "Object history" field. No problem, delete it. I guess it's not really about this specific template, rather a way to easily add additional info to the description of files, in batch. oSeveno (talk) 11:35, 26 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted: per consensus. --JuTa 16:51, 28 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
