[edit]DescriptionOystershell scale mitigation field trip 12-7-21.webm |
English: Oystershell scale is a widespread problem, an emerging invasive insect posing a serious threat to conservation of quaking aspen in northern Arizona and beyond. A serious priority for researchers, oystershell scale monitoring and research is occurring on the Flagstaff and Mogollon Rim Ranger Districts with collaborators from NAU School of Forestry.
Photos are from a collaborative field trip with NAU School of Forestry and the USFS. We shadowed researchers and graduate students, visiting two test plots where possible mitigations for oystershell spread are being reviewed. Photos and videos taken December 7, 2021 by Danika Thiele.
