About having different sizes of "same" image

[edit]
  • Commons:Deletion requests/Archives01#Flag images by user:Marc Mongenet
    • ...an image height (300) that is a multiple of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 20, 25, 30, 50, 60, 75, 100 and 150. It allows pixel perfect ratio without color aliasing for horizontal stripes on flags...
    • ...an automatic resize has to use (a lot) more colors in the reduced image than in the original one. So automatically resized images have less clear color transition (there may be one transition pixel of averaged color) and less good compression ratios.
    • ...Concerning the byte size, if Wikipedia reduces image:Switzerland_flag_300.png to 75px, the result is of a size of 504 bytes; that's 5 times the size of an hand-optimized reduction (107 bytes...)

"definition of redundancy"

[edit]

wondering what is redundant? here's "examples" about flags and don't bother to search for official data about what is actually correct, it's enough if other one is bigger and/or looks nicer.

And don't bother to explain or give arguments for marking "redundant", it's anyway annoying nuisance before one could feel the "power" to be able to delete something

... previous is sarcastic explanation of using Redundant marking for flags, in case you thoughted to follow this
