File renames / changes
Strange renaming Ingenuity flight 8 real-time animation (75 seconds).gif → Ingenuity flight 8 full real-time animation.gif- it's NOT harmonization, rather de-harmonization (see other files in Ingenuity flight animations); the absence of 'full' supposes that not all the frames were published; figure of seconds MUST be present for the not-full animations.
Also, the original (17.39 MB) version must be returned for the second time (TommyG already reverted to version as of 08:04, 8 August 2021 (UTC) saying Clearly two completely different files. Please do not overwrite files with more than just minor adjustments to the file compared to the original). - Thanks, 95.29.44.255 01:22, 10 June 2022 (UTC)
- Done. This was a clearly egregious example of why you shouldn't overwrite files in this manner. Chinak's longer version has been uploaded to the second filename. — Huntster (t @ c) 02:44, 10 June 2022 (UTC)
- Question though: why was the upload named (75 seconds) when it was only 39 seconds? The 186 frame version is the whole 75 seconds. — Huntster (t @ c) 03:23, 10 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you, Huntster! The date you signed this message (June, 10) could well be posthumous for me: on June, 6 the cerebral infarction was added to my collecton with the record values of 250/170. I didn't tell you that I wrote you in a few hours after my return fom the hospital.
- Happily neither speech nor paralysis followed however the partial visual disability is not a better gift. My stereo sensor )) is hardly damaged, I see two pictures one above another. Reading and printing with one eye shut is a palliative solution I use now. One-eyed working is slow, unproductive and causes early tiredness of eyes. Upon returning home I started the 'finalizing stage'. The top priority is the helicopter, I shall try to upgrade the article to the golden barnstar. That shall be my final project in all wikies.
- As for '75 seconds': seems that you are right. I plan to return to this issue in the context of the general revision of all flight data. However if you are sure in another figure you may edit the filename without awaiting corrected figures from me.
- Maybe the emergency of my circumstances shall justify my short return to the normal way of posting. Asking you to upload pictures instead of me overloads you. However right now I have lots to do with the article.
Thus, if it is possible, I shall kindly ask you to upload this photo into the Collier Trophy recipients and all related categories. It must have PIA, but I cannot find it. I have no special wishes about naming, description etc. Thanks in advance. - anonym 95.27.42.184 07:06, 25 June 2022 (UTC) - Seems I've got possibility to upload myself 95.27.42.197 17:20, 25 June 2022 (UTC).

- C, sorry I couldn't get to this earlier. New job, less time. I'm so sorry to hear about your health issues, that's so difficult to deal with. Would an eye patch for your non-dominant eye help with the eye strain and tiredness, since you wouldn't have to hold it closed all the time? I'm always happy to help with image work, just be aware that I might not always be timely with responding. Glad you were able to get your image uploaded, though. Please take things easy. — Huntster (t @ c) 20:58, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you, Huntster, for file renaming (39 seconds)! My plans for today are modest: a cropout from the file I use in the header of the table of optic sensors. — Cherurbino (talk) 05:36, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
LEGO Steam machine
Hi, Huntster !
I just learned that my LEGO steam engine animation had been Media of the day on January 07, 2019. It's nice! But one question is bothering me: As you can see at this link : https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Motd/2019-01#19, there were a lot of notes on this animation. But they no longer appear on the current definition page (in my browser (FF) (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Machine_%C3%A0_Vapeur_en_LEGO.gif?uselang=fr ). Do you know the reason? Regards, Bernard de Go Mars (talk) 14:26, 11 June 2022 (UTC)
- Bernard de Go Mars, I tried looking at the image page for errors and couldn't find any, and tried looking at documentation for answers but couldn't find any. This is very strange. I've left a question at MediaWiki talk:Gadget-ImageAnnotator.js#Annotations not appearing on GIF description page in hopes that someone more familiar with the annotation tool might know what is happening. Thanks for reaching out!— Huntster (t @ c) 23:15, 11 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks Hunter! Sometimes you can add notes on the GIF animations and sometimes you can't (the button being effectively absent). It's very annoying because this annotator tool is really great!
- And thanks for leaving a message at MediaWiki talk:Gadget-ImageAnnotator.js. This problem seems to happen often. Surely a computer bug, then! Hopefully this bug will be fixed by our precious IT guys! Sincerely, 109.9.80.179 13:13, 12 June 2022 (UTC)

- N.B.: The annotations are still present with the image, that's why they show up on pages that use it. For whatever reason they just aren't showing up on the image description page. — Huntster (t @ c) 23:20, 11 June 2022 (UTC)
Sound Logo
Hello,
I am messaging you because a contest for a sound logo for Wikimedia is being developed and your opinion as a Wikimedia Commons admin is appreciated. My team would like to know if it is possible for the top finalist sound logos in the contest to have attribution temporarily hidden from public view until all the votes are final? The idea is to let the public judge the sound logo contestants based on the merit of the logo, not the person or people who made it. Again, any feedback is appreciated.
Thank you,

Help with "CEERS-93316" image
Help if possible - "CEERS-93316" is the earliest galaxy candidate found so far (z=16.7) - Question: Is the related image ( presented at several websites, including "BBC News" at => https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-62311562 ) ok for the Wikipedia "CEERS-93316" article or not? - seems the "CEERS Collaboration" and the new "James Webb Space Telescope" are involved - and both may be related to "NASA" in some way - but unable to find a clear indication of image copyright conditions at the moment - in any case - Stay Safe and Healthy !! - Drbogdan (talk) 16:55, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
- Drbogdan: To be honest, the status of some JWST media is uncertain. If it's published through webbtelescope.org, then it's probably {{PD-Webb}}; if it's published through esawebb.org, then it's probably {{ESA-Webb}}. But the CEERS-93316 image has not been published there, so I don't know which, if any. I've send a message to their twitter account since I couldn't find an email address for the CEERS project, hopefully I'll hear back from them. Also, here is fine to send messages, since I'm not really active on en.wiki anymore. That said, I'll be notified regardless of the project you post to. — Huntster (t @ c) 00:34, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
- Huntster - Thank you for your *excellent* comments - seems we may have to wait for some note of clarification re the issue - the Webb team seems to be presentng a lot of very worthy images - hopefuly, Wikipedia will be able to use some of them on relevant articles soon of course - in any case - Thanks again for your comments - they're *greatly* appreciated - Stay Safe and Heathy !! - Drbogdan (talk) 01:45, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
PIA template problem
Hi, Huntsterǃ The template {{NASA-image|center=JPL|id=PIA25328}} I've just added to Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover Science Team (2022).jpg fails to open the relevant catalog page. — yours half-blind Cherurbino (talk) 07:09, 26 August 2022 (UTC)
- Cherurbino, the template only links to the main NASA image archive. When I have time, I can look into adding some kind of more dynamic linking, but given how busy I am IRL I cannot promise anything given the task's complexity. Thanks for the idea though. — Huntster (t @ c) 13:26, 26 August 2022 (UTC)
Editor ban justified?
Hello Huntster,
If possible - seems "en:User:Genome42", a highly knowledgeable and regarded scientist, has been banned from Wikipedia - this may (or may not) be justified - a second opinion may be helpful - if interested, the editor has "commented on my Facebook page with more details" - in any case - Stay Safe and Healthy !! - Drbogdan (talk) 17:21, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
- Drbogdan, hello. Unfortunately I deleted my Facebook account long ago so I cannot read that message. I know next to nothing about this case or this individual, other than what I read in the report and on his talk page. It appears he was trying to push unsourced or self-sourced material, and was willing to edit war to include it. He was told, essentially, it isn't what you know but what you can cite, and it doesn't appear he was willing to accept that. On the surface, the block seems reasonable, though the indef was too much. He can appeal when he comes up with a cogent argument. — Huntster (t @ c) 19:04, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
- Huntster - Thank you *very much* for your comments - and efforts with this issue - copied your reply-comments to my FaceBook page - if interested, copied the entire relevant FB discussion (to date) to one of my own WP sandbox pages at the following => https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Drbogdan/FB-Discussion-20220901 - in any case - Thanks again for your efforts with this - they're *greatly* appreciated - Stay Safe and Healthy !! - Drbogdan (talk) 19:46, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
„Sample return“ duplicates
- PIA25326-MarsSampleReturnProgram-20220727.jpg — original 1.04 MB from catalog (Drbogdan)
- NASA Will Inspire World When It Returns Mars Samples to Earth in 2033.jpg — 10.17 MB (Chinakpradhan)
Albeit (1) was uploaded 17 hours later, this upload seems preferable for the reasons of unclear relation of (2) to the original at NASA's catalogue which resulted in 10x increase of the file size.
Before I came up to understanding that there are two files, I tried to ameliorate the links with the extracted images… now this work has lost its worth)). Anyway I shall try to improve the Mars Samples return helicopters.jpg cropout Cherurbino (talk) 11:06, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
Do the needful and stay healthy Cherurbino with hope that you can recover if possible. I missed you a lot on wiki.Chinakpradhan (talk) 12:06, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
- Cherurbino and Chinakpradhan, this is a bit of a conundrum. Based on https://photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/catalog/PIA24870, I believe File:PIA25326-MarsSampleReturnProgram-20220727.jpg is the best version because it shows a properly updated lander design. So, Chinak, do you believe the file you uploaded should be kept for any reason, or should it be removed in favour of the other one? Or, do you believe the reverse is true and File:NASA Will Inspire World When It Returns Mars Samples to Earth in 2033.jpg should be the one kept? — Huntster (t @ c) 13:36, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
I said do the needful that is keep the best version. am deleting my version Chinakpradhan (talk) 15:00, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
- Chinakpradhan, apologies, I thought "needful" was directed toward Cherurbino along with the rest of that reply. — Huntster (t @ c) 15:04, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
Hehe Chinakpradhan (talk) 15:09, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, everybody, my friends, and thank you all for your compassions. The main improvement is that now I write without assistants behind my back. One eye is worse than two but better than none. Note that the second is not lost, it's merely shut making the situation even better. Keeping in mind the Murphy's Law which dictates that if something was going to happen, it would happen at the worst time, now I accelerate the work under my opus magnum. Current notesː
- Chinakpradhan please check the Sample Retutn page at zh-wiki. Seems that the deleted file was also displayed there and now the link needs the manual re-editing.
- Chinakpradhan, last weekend I made a huge addition to “Ingenuity” and re-wrote its final chapter. If I succeeɖ I shall write some important comments upon these edits on your 'User Talk' (not the en-wiki Talk page for Ingenuityǃ). The issue of these comments shall be the hierarchy of institutions and subcontractors involved in designing and construction of „Ingenuity“. I shall let everybody know here when these comments shall we written at the Chinakpradhan's User Talk page. Cherurbino (talk) 04:54, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
I did as you told for zh-wiki @Cherurbino and i will be waiting for your notes that heavily improve the enwiki ginny article, which i want to have a stand in front of your ru-wiki version. Cyrrently its not even a hair in front of that article. Chinakpradhan (talk) 05:51, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
I personally wanted if it can be done that all resources and texts at ru-wiki version missing in en-wiki version to be included in enwiki. This is subjected to other en-wiki editors acceptance. Chinakpradhan (talk) 05:55, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
You can ses the infoboxes of both versons an enwiki editors mouth will be closed in pin-drop silence or open in awe. Chinakpradhan (talk) 05:57, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
Btw, lastly i am asking (i know i am writing too much) if you are comfortable can you please compare en:List of Ingenuity flights (made by me and @DonFB) if it stands somewhere in front of ru:Список полётов Ingenuity or not?? Chinakpradhan (talk) 06:01, 5 September 2022 (UTC)

EXIF, again
I know I am guilty of this every other screenshot upload. It's just that I upload screenshots rarely enough that I forget about my name in the EXIF. Please delete the first version of File:Moldova stained glass MD-C-Ar-N-0387 youtube id nd6zH5fkPEU.jpg, as per my previous requests. Thank you very much, I owe you. Witness’s testimonies )))
Hi, Huntster! First, I'm happy to share one encouraging news: my eyesight has improved a bit. It's unbelievable, but healing came with the re-strike this August. I awoke with >200 pressure and left eye filled with blood… but w:diplopia vanished! Exactly as I remember from my early childhood in 1960-ies: if TV goes wrong - punch it from above, and it repairs itself!
On September 9 I nominated my "Ingenuity" as a Featured article candidate. Hope that this request for a 'witness testimony' )) does not go against Wikipedia ethics as a 'vote beggarship' - so I don't ask you to begin your line with a green cross template " {{За}}". It's obvious that your knowledge of foreign language is not sufficient to evaluate the text. However, as my personal tutor and consultant at Commons you are the only witness of my work for illustrating this specific article. Besides a few hundreds of ready photos, there are >20 self made animations (each requiring up to 190 images/frames), some graphs and a value-added maps. Of course, categories etc.
I would appreciate much if you find a couple of words informing about this side of work under the featured article which is rarely noticed by reviewers. Your critics may be written only in English, after I shall take care for its translation.
With the best regards, — Cherurbino (talk) 15:41, 19 September 2022 (UTC) 15:38, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
- I've made some suggestions there, Cherurbino. I hope this was the feedback you were looking for. Glad your eyesight is improving, though that pressure reading is quite worrisome! — Huntster (t @ c) 23:54, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for coming! Please revise what I did... and what I could not do ))), following my comments. I saw your comment upon screen width and all three screenshots. I never came across any discussions concerning very wide screens. On Sep. 24 I plan to attend the local wiki conference. Never attended such meetings)) I have no plans to speak or to present papers... just to listen what other people say. Cherurbino (talk) 20:49, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
