Greetings.

Turkey and Northern Cyprus have abolished daylight saving and are permanently fixed on en:UTC+3 (en:Further-eastern European Time). (Also Crimea has not been updated in some of these files which is also permanently fixed on UTC+3.) See the news and sources. Can you change these files accordingly?

Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 31.200.22.58 (talk) 19:19, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

hi, nice upload. hope you don't mind my messing with metadata. i would suggest uploading into Template:Artwork, using old uploader, or com:Pattypan. cheers. Slowking4 § Richard Arthur Norton's revenge 16:33, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, there's a way to upload a file AND fill in the Artwork template at the same time! Nice to know. Thank you! — Poulpy (talk) 16:36, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
yes, one at a time at old uploader can be faster than wizard, when you paste the template from a doc. i tried to get artwork template as an option for wizard, at the wishlist but i guess it is not a priority.[1] cheers. Slowking4 § Richard Arthur Norton's revenge 00:57, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Reminder: Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2016 is open!

[edit]

You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2016 Picture of the Year contest.

Dear Poulpy,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2016 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eleventh edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2016) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category.

In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 20 April 2017, 23:59:59 UTC.

Category discussion warning

The Moneychanger and His Wife - Marinus van Reymerswale (Musée d'Arts de Nantes) has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Wiki Loves Monuments France 2019

[edit]

Bonjour,

Hi Poulpy,
Thank you for your contributions to Commons. I noticed File:Tajikistan satellite photo.jpg is out of date. The China-Tajikistan border has been changed. Could you update it? Thanks again. --Geographyinitiative (talk) 00:54, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

périssoire = type of ark?

[edit]

"type of ark" seems a slightly odd description of a Category:Perissoires. The word "ark", used to refer to any bot except Noah's Ark, is very rare. I've never seen this word use, though it might be a rarer dialect form. Wiktionary:ark#English.

In parts of the US, a périssoire would be called Cajun pirogue. A périssoire would probably be categorized as a kayak in North America, as the paddle has two blades; and if it did not have a top deck (some périssoires seem to have a partial deck) it might be categorized as a sit-on-top kayak or open kayak. In Britain a périssoire could be deemed a type of kayak, or it could be called a canoe. North Americans would insist that périssoires are not canoes, because to them, a canoe is a boat you propel kneeling with a single-bladed paddle. "a type of kayak" thus seems acceptable, though "narrow one-person boat propelled with a double-bladed paddle" might be better. Wikidata just describes a "kayak" as a "type of boat"! Crotos : comment afficher tous les résultats ?

[edit]

Bonjour Poulpy,
