Special:Diff/141851012

Hi. This old diff removed the Uncategorized template. The only categories on the file were source categories and copyright categories. Should something be fixed? --MGA73 (talk) 11:00, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

Agreed with this, it appears the bot removes the template if there is any kind of non-hidden category whatsoever, even if this category is technical. Maybe all technical categories are strictly supposed to be hidden? One issue I encountered is with Category:Stereoscopic 3D files which is within Category:Media types. See for example Special:Diff/165325562. But sorting these would surely require a lot of manual work. djr13 (talk) 14:23, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

I changed Category:Images which should not be images into a hidden category when I saw the bot removing {{Uncategorized}} from a file. As a maintenance category, I'm surprised that it wasn't already hidden. --Stefan4 (talk) 15:15, 21 October 2015 (UTC)

Malfunctioning of bot

Hi Doc Taxon, I consider this as malfunctioning of a bot. Removing uncategorised template while the image is not categorised. And no, a contest category added by a template is never sufficient categorisation. Please fix this, otherwise this bot should not run. Hi @Romaine: I suggest that these contest categories, you was talking about above, are all within the category tree Category:Photography competitions. It's possible to setup TaxonBot to ignore these categories. What is your opinion about that? Doc Taxon (talk)

Hi Doc Taxon, The upload wizard gives an error message when no category is added manually, so I think the basic should be that there is manually a category on a file page. Ignoring the categories in the tree of Photography competitions can be tricky as this category is not solely for Wikimedia administration of photo contests it seems. Category:Uncheckable SVG created with Other tools

As faras I can see, the category contains just 470 Antu icons, all are well categorized. So there was nothing wrong. -- sarang♥사랑 00:06, 2 November 2018 (UTC)
