Fair use rationale for File:Only Fools Titles.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Only Fools Titles.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kindzmarauli (talk) 14:05, 17 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Autopatrolled

edit

Hello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:

  • This permission does not give you any special status or authority
  • Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal
  • You may wish to display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page
  • If, for any reason, you decide you do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it
If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, happy editing! Acalamari 14:01, 25 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Only fools.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Only fools.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. 1970 FA Cup Final

edit

Greetings. You are obviously an experienced Wiki contributor and, moreover, a football enthusiast. So, I believe that the issue I'm raising will meet with the consideration it's due. When an article about a team or a football player contains characterizations of their style of play and/or critique (e.g. "they were cheaters"), it is necessary to cite an outside reference. Unless there's something quite obvious (e.g. "Real Madrid was the most dominant side in Europe in the 1950s"), we must, I believe, make every effort to avoid fuzziness around what's been said by others and our personal opinion. Actually, it is usually better to leave out something which might be well-known to football fans (or us) but is impossible to cite! (E.g. "XYZ was the prime instigator of the riot in ...."). Wikipedia is full of such "enthusiastic" but misplaced input, so we should, methinks, try out best to keep it to a minimum. Makes for better football articles in our encyclopaedia. Hope this message is not coming on as too pedantic and if it does, apologies. Cheers.-The Gnome (talk) 06:39, 6 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi there. The reason I removed the quotation marks from some statements is they aren't or don't appear to be actual quotes. The "flamboyant southerners" and "uncompromising yet talented" lines are certainly not quoted from anywhere, as I wrote them when I first created the article years ago. Best. SteveO (talk) 17:36, 6 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
But there are out there, those lines, created by many people who were or are still writing about or during that era! These are not terms you made up, these are terms obviously used in and recalled from the write-ups of the time. Therefore (and since the terms are not self-evident), we should seek third-party attribution -- and I did that. Cheers.-The Gnome (talk) 21:50, 6 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
P.S. I moved the discussion here, so that it is all in the same place and can be conducted more easily. Hope you don't mind. The Gnome (talk) 21:50, 6 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
I don't disagree with any of that. My only issue was putting comments in quotation marks which do not appear to actually be quotes from anywhere. For instance there was also criticism among football professionals and media for the "very physical play" in the Beyond the final section implies that someone has said that. No doubt someone did, but the given source doesn't mention that phrase. If you can track down similar quotes from reliable sources then there'll be no objections from me. Speedy deletion nomination of Come On England

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Come On England requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Your draft article, Draft:Marty Marshall

edit

Hello, SteveO. It has been over six months since you last edited your Articles for Creation draft article submission, "Marty Marshall".

In accordance with our policy that Articles for Creation is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. 1989 (talk) 02:10, 12 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Come On England

edit

The article Come On England has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Tagged as non-notable for the past 6 years, suggested merge objected to on target page. Unloved and unwanted.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Only Fools A Royal Flush.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Only Fools A Royal Flush.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 17:49, 20 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:Cfc1905.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Cfc1905.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. mattbr 19:47, 27 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
