Gabriel Arias Arroyo (born 13 September 1987) is a professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Argentine Primera División club Racing Club. Born in Argentina, he plays for the Chile national team.[3]

Club career
editArias came to the Independiente youth system at the age of 14 from his hometown, Neuquén. He switched to Olimpo before joining Defensa y Justicia in 2012.[4] In 2018, he was loaned out to Chilean club Unión La Calera.[5]
In July 2018, Arias returned to Argentina and signed with Racing Club de Avellaneda.[6] On 24 July 2024, he reached two hundred matches with them.[7]
International career
editArias qualifies to play for Chile through his maternal grandparents. In 2018, he was called up for the first time.[8] He made his debut on 4 June 2018, in a friendly match against Serbia, where he played the whole match and kept a clean sheet on a 1–0 victory.[9]
Being one of the key players for Racing to win the 2018–19 Argentine league, Arias was asked by media if he would play for the Argentina national team, considering that he had played for Chile in friendly matches only. However, he maintained his position of representing Chile internationally.[10]
Personal life
editArias naturalized Chilean by descent since his maternal grandparents are Chilean.[8][11]
Arias dropped out of school at the age of 14, when he moved to Buenos Aires from Neuquén. In July 2024, he graduated from high school.[12]
