Ochaun Mathis (born January 8, 1999) is an American professional football linebacker for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at TCU and Nebraska.

Early years
editMathis grew up in Manor, Texas and attended Manor High School.[1] He was rated a three-star recruit and committed to play college football at Texas Christian University (TCU) over offers from Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas Tech.[2]
College career
editTCU
editMathis began his college career playing for the TCU Horned Frogs. He played in four games as a true freshman before redshirting the season.[3] He had 40 tackles with nine tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks in his redshirt freshman season.[4] Mathis was named second team All-Big 12 Conference after making 46 tackles with 14 tackles for loss and a team-high nine sacks in 2020.[5] He repeated as a second team All-Big 12 selection in 2021 after recording 45 tackles with seven tackles for loss and four sacks.[6] Following the end of the season Mathis entered the NCAA transfer portal.[7]

Los Angeles Rams
editMathis was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the sixth round, 189th overall, of the 2023 NFL draft.[11] He was placed on injured reserve on September 1, 2023.[12] He was activated on October 7.[13]
On August 25, 2024, Mathis was waived by the Rams.[14]
New England Patriots
editOn August 30, 2024, Mathis was signed to the New England Patriots practice squad.[15] On October 29, he was promoted to the active roster.[16]
