editThis article clearly is very poor. Someone Fix It!
Fixing
editI came across this article while perusing through the List of people from Tamil Nadu. It seems to have too little information for a person with such an iconic status as Auto Shankar. Unfortunately, I am unable to find much of referenced material on the web for expanding the article. If anyone who comes across this can help, please do so! aJCfreak yAkBaK 10:43, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
Name
editThe article states that "Auto Shankar" is the killer's nickname. What is his real name? Paris1127 (talk) 00:55, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
- I find a few obscure hits that seem to indicate his real name may have been "Gowri Shankar". I can't find anything I'd really count as a reliable source (closest is an offhand remark in an article in FHM India, which I see only in Google summary as the article itself does not seem to be available, at least for free, online). If it really was his name, it does not seem to have been used much; almost all hits for "Gowri Shankar" seem to be for other people. --Trovatore (talk) 23:10, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
- I presume that Tamil sources might have something. Is that where you were checking? Maybe some of the English newspapers in India have online archives as well. Paris1127 (talk) 23:20, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
- No, I just googled search terms like "auto shankar" "real name" and similar. Nothing sophisticated or focused. --Trovatore (talk) 23:23, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
- French Wikipedia says his name was Sesu Rajaa, mais cet article est complètement non référencé (the article has no references) and I'm not entirely sure whether that is meant as his name or an in-text citation. I bet the Tamil Wikipedia has it, but the Google Translation is terrible. Paris1127 (talk) 23:58, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
- The French one says dit Sesu Rajaa, which sounds like this is another nickname. Your Google Translate link has the sentence Gauri Shankar attocankar's birth, which might be "Gauri Shankar was Auto Shankar's birth name", consistent with the few hits I found. But we don't seem to be getting particularly closer to anything that can be added to the article. --Trovatore (talk) 01:22, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
- Perhaps, although it could be his name. I'm leaning towards nickname. What we need is someone who's bilingual in Tamil and English to translate the article. I've added a Template:Expand language tag to the page to hopefully attract bilinguals. Paris1127 (talk) 01:29, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
- I followed my own suggestion and discovered Auto Shankar's real name: Gowri Shankar. Google archived the Indian Express, an English newspaper in India, and from the French Wiki I knew he was sentenced to death on 31 May 1991. So I looked at the Indian Express for June 1, and lo and behold, one of the front page headlines is "Auto Shankar, two others sentenced to death" which begins: "Gowri Shankar alias 'Auto' Shankar". Source Now it's a question of how to incorporate it into the article. In addition, here's a source about his escape from prison. Paris1127 (talk) 03:28, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
- And here's another article with his name as Gowri Shankar. Paris1127 (talk) 03:31, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

Block caste itching fellows
editPlease kindly block the caste itching fellows from Wikipedia or even from this page. Nara vettai (talk) 12:06, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
Your accusation of caste bias is horrendously unwarranted. I have no intention but to contribute to this site positively. Ihaveabandonedmychild (talk) 05:53, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
Why can't his caste be added to this page?
editI have been suggested to gain consensus before making edit. Seasoned admins, please let me know, if it is forbidden to mention caste of a person in his biographic article. Ihaveabandonedmychild (talk) 07:12, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
