Japan's top selling musician

edit

I think some editors should learn to read Japanese before posting references. Michiya Mihasi is Japan's highest selling musician with an estimate of 160 million records sold. He became the first Japanese musician to break the 100 million sales mark in 1983. This achievement is mentioned in his profile at Oricon.

Many of the Oricon references have been misinterperted. 220.253.109.122 (talk) 09:03, 17 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sales

edit

Please stop saying they are Japan's top selling music act.

There are many Japanese musicians that have sold more records than B'z.

Hibari Misora had sold around 70 million albums before the 1990's!

No offense to B'z fans, but its wrong to state such a claim. 220.253.16.5 (talk) 12:44, 15 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Links keep appearing, and then disappearing in line with WP:EL. But I think it's being misapplied. From the page referred to:

Occasionally acceptable links
  • 3 - Fan sites: On articles about topics with many fansites, including a link to one major fansite is appropriate, marking the link as such. In extreme cases, a link to a web directory of fansites can replace this link. (Note: fanlistings are generally not informative and should not ordinarily be included.)

Now I can think of one or two websites that could have a link included under this policy. I'm not going to add them myself. This [B'z Online Music Site] in particular contains English translations of most B'z songs and many interviews. Given that this is an English article about a Japanese group I think it would be a reasonable link that would not violate WP policy. RB30DE 23:25, 30 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Album Covers

edit

Seeing as how we have none on the page anymore, should users themselves provide their own scans? I could provide those for Big Machine, Eleven, Survive, Brotherhood, Green, and Monster, but I was wondering if anyone else would be able to help. --Mr. Toto 06:58, 19 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have many singles and albums but, I'm on Windows Vista and my 3-in-1 printer doesn't have the drivers for the Operating System. Also, that 3-in-1 printer's scanner is quality is not really good. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.50.151.43 (talk) 01:31, 7 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

This article is massive

edit

How about whipping together the band's history and progress by using the official site's info: http://bz-vermillion.com/english/top/

Also, the discography is so big that it could be an article of it's own..

That sounds great. I've been working on articles about B'z albums, EPs, singles, etc., and when I'm done with it, I'm gonna put everything together in a single "B'z discography" article, to provide a more comprehensive list.Victao lopes 17:31, 7 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Origin of the name "B'z"

edit

I've just removed the section Origin of the name "B'z" - it was Blatant copyright infringement of [2]. Adding copyrighted material to Wikipedia is totally discouraged, see CSD G12. If you want to add it back, use the link above only as a reference. However, the link above is not really reliable, so I believe this section should remain unwritten until reliable sources are given on their name. Victor Lopes (talk) 16:43, 21 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

The origin of their name is stated in their book. Why do non-Japanese people make things up? Also, their influence didn't come from "Beatles" or "Led Zepplin" it was clearly stated by Matsumoto that their main influence is Mari Hamada. He was Mari's guitar player in the 80's. It is good that you removed it, because it is more incorrect and wrong information. 220.253.192.72 (talk) 14:05, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Interesting, would you have any reference to the origin of their name in the book or to Tak's statement? Victor Lopes (talk) 20:43, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Merge singles

edit

I'm putting a Merge tag on each article for the singles in this album, and I'm directing all of the discuss links to here so that they can all be centrally discussed. Chris M. (talk) 03:53, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I tagged only the articles that had an album listed but I don't think the other singles should be individual articles but couldn't figure out where to merge them (if at all).

The initial discussion to merge these articles was done here. Chris M. (talk) 04:06, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please note that all of their singles, except for the first and the second, have charted at Oricon (the vast majority at #1), so they deserve individual articles per WP:MUSIC. If the problem is the size of the article, then give me some time and I'll add more material to them. Also, note that if we had to delete/merge all articles about songs that are inappropriate per WP:MUSIC, then I guarantee you Wikipedia would be still under 2 million articles. Anyway, If it's really needed to merge all of them, then do your best to avoid wasting all my work, I mean, let's try to merge the articles with all material that I added (including references, infoboxes, track listings, covers, etc). I've spent months on it, you know. Victor Lopes (talk) 15:33, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
The AfD discussion for Kimi no Naka de Odoritai did not reach any consensus. In that case, the article stays. If other editors would like to merge this single to Off The Lock, take all material added to the album article, please. Victor Lopes (talk) 18:43, 1 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm against the single merging. Singles are a sepearate release and they must have their article even if one or all the songs are featured on an album. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.50.151.43 (talk) 01:29, 7 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Merge them all. From WP:MUSIC#Songs: "... A separate article is only appropriate when there is enough verifiable material to warrant a reasonably detailed article; articles unlikely ever to grow beyond stubs should be merged to articles about an artist or album...." FelisLeoTalk! 08:27, 17 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Merge all Hadrianheugh (talk) 02:33, 8 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I am against merging. Singles are an important thing. Most singles have a B-Side or a C-Side that need to be noted. There are many songs, Especially by B'z that are not on albums and could go as unknown. If it must be merged, I agree with Victor Lopes, and keep all the information in with album releases. Maybe it could be listed as "Singles released between albums". Please don't destroy all this important information on B'z. Jmshetfield (talk) 10:30, 18 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hard rock?

edit

Why is this tagged as Hard rock in the Genre field? With all my respect, this is Pop rock or Rock music to the maximum. → Tristan ♡ (talk) 11:43, 2 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

They may not sound like AC/DC or Aerosmith, but if you listen to The 7th Blues, Run, In the Life and Loose you're going to notice elements of Hard Rock. Victão Lopes I hear you... 13:19, 5 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
ELEVEN is considered to be one of their hard-rockiest album ever. It's the staple of B'z hard rock. 2001:E68:5433:8980:7D11:737:309E:1F02 (talk) 03:35, 15 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
