Disambiguation page needed
editThe headings about "Bodger" and "repair" should be somewhere else, probably one or more disambiguation pages. DCDuring (talk) 16:01, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Leura Bodger
editShould I include the Leura Bodger in the Notable Bodgers section? That is, according to popular consensus, is the Leura Bodger significant enough? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drunken Thinker (talk • contribs) 00:44, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
- The last of what can be called 'traditional' bodgers died out in the early 1960's. 'Modern' Bodgers are hobbyists and woodworkers who want to keep the tradition alive but are not itinerant woodsmen who went where the work was. If we are going to put 'modern' bodgers in this section, we need a short preface to explain the difference. Wilfridselsey (talk) 10:13, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

botching
editThe Complete OED makes it pretty clear that the general meaning of "bodger" since at least the sixteenth century is one who makes an improvised or unskilled repair. One must conclude that the Chilterns use is a local dialect one, as the author of the two footnotes implies. The article needs to be reframed accordingly, but I do not have time at present. Deipnosophista (talk) 13:49, 3 April 2018 (UTC)
- No, the article needs no such change. Nor is this what the OED claims. The OED covers both meanings, and the use here is specialised to green woodworking, but very far from limited to the Chilterns. Andy Dingley (talk) 15:10, 3 April 2018 (UTC)
text needs tidying
editThis "As well recorded in Cotton the English Regional Chair" needs some explanation. I assume there is a book by someone whose last name is Cotton, and the title is The English Regional Chair? But it isn't at all clear and needs to be tidied up, presumably with a reference as well. 79.69.2.35 (talk) 12:21, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
