Shawn Marie Love
editWhy no info about Shawn Marie Love being Mike Love's daughter? That would mean Dennis married his cousins daughter.98.240.76.78 (talk) 21:59, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
- The actual ruling was that paternity, whilst probable, was not proven. One of the terms of the settlement was that Shawn could use Mike's surname once she was eighteen. Mike is know to have said "no daughter of mine uses drugs". Given all the evidence, she almost certainly was his daughter. Andrew G. Doe (talk) 13:55, 1 December 2022 (UTC)
Mike Love has always denied paternity and continues to do so in his recent autobiography. He took paternity and lie detector tests, and the judge ruled in the paternity suit involving Shawn and her mother that the preponderance of evidence didn't establish Love was the father. The mother of Shawn took a settlement of $9500 in the sixties in exchange for not appealing the judge's ruling. I think it can be assumed Shawn was never the daughter of Mike Love. He had no relationship whatsoever with her. SN 26 May 2019
Manson episode: section far too long.
editFive paragraphs to that? There are far fewer in the next one, which covers his artistic contributions over a decade! The next previous "discussion" gives this rationale for Manson being mentioned in the lede: there's a lot about it in the article. That's irrational, as the section is far too long. Boscaswell talk 10:49, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
- So grab a copy of Jon Stebbins' The Real Beach Boy and use it to expand the other sections. An entire book about Pacific Ocean Blue was also published recently. If you don't want to spend a couple of dollars, then there's copies of Steven Gaines' Heroes and Villains and Keith Badman's Beach Boys Diary available on archive.org, with plenty of information about Dennis' life. ili (talk) 01:15, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
Does this article really need to include Stephen Gaines claim that Dennis said he'd been raped?
editthe only source/evidence for this is an unsourced footnote in the book Heroes And Villains that doesn't even reveal how Gaines knew this/who told him. 80.47.163.65 (talk) 03:25, 1 June 2023 (UTC)
- A major source, albeit uncredited, was Steve Love. Andrew G. Doe (talk) 19:58, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
Is it necessary to include that Manson never "substantiated" claims that are by their very nature illusory.
editUpon Wilson's death, Manson was quoted as saying, "Dennis Wilson was killed by my shadow because he took my music and changed the words from my soul." Manson never substantiated these claims.
The final sentence seems rather frivolous and perhaps slightly pointed. I don't think the tongue-in-cheek tone fits an encyclopaedia. Arthurhawkes (talk) 14:16, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
