editWould the 1992 hit "Sweet Lullaby" by "Deep Forest" be considered exotica? Burschik 07:54, 23 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Um, I would say that is more New Age/Electronica. --The lorax 15:05, 26 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- What about Babatunde Olatunji and his Drums of Passion records? There was one of these that was out in the 1960s, and a friend's dad had it and it was a lot of fun to listen to when you were eight or nine years old. -- Smerdis of Tlön 22:03, 5 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Two things the article failed to mention: the considerable Latin influence on exotica (Martin Denny himself in "Incredibly Strange Music" mentioned that his sound was far more Latin influenced, especially in the rhythms, than Polynesian influenced) and the relation between the rise of exotica and the introduction of stereophonic sound.
does anyone else think Exotica is a great album, but sort of screwed up by the cheesy bird calls? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.83.121.172 (talk) 20:37, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- After six years, I think the answer to your question is "no" - DavidWBrooks (talk) 20:58, 14 May 2016 (UTC)
- after five more years, I'd say that 16 minus 8 is not "six". ;) 66.30.47.138 (talk) 16:35, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
