There seems to be debate in the source material about the opening year of the Golden Coast, ranging from 1958 to 1960. This could be because the bar had already existed under the name Gold Coast Show Lounge (opening date unknown), although it had nothing to do with the leather scene before leathermen starting to meet there in 1959. 1960 is the opening year mentioned in Tracy Baim's and Owen Keehnen's biography of Chuck Renslow in a very detailed chapter on the history of the Golden Coast bar. The sources in which 1958 is given as the opening date are usually overviews or short newspaper articles from the 2010s. It can therefore be assumed that this was an error, which was reproduced again and again, among other things, due to the publication on Wikipedia. Satyridium (talk) 22:10, 7 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
