Pointless?

edit

This page is a bit pointless, because the only news is Cyprus and Ukraine have both asked to host it. Whether it'll even take place is questionable.

It's not written fabulously, but I probably wouldn't do better, and I wouldn't try... I presume the writer is the same person who decided the EBU were thinking about a Junior Eurovision Dance contest? Wouldn't that be similar to Eurovision Young Dancers?

The list of countries is just a few you picked out at random, by the looks of things.

Also, full stops and stuff should have two spaces after, right?

My final point is the rumours... I've not heard any of them, nor they should be on here. 212.139.181.59 23:05, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Spacing

edit

If you use French spacing, yes. However, I don't.

. TheThis user does not put two spaces after a full stop.

The original article had no spaces between sentences. 79.73.22.177 19:52, 1 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

REMOVE THE PAGE

edit

It is really pointless this article.. The only thing we actually know about the 2008 edition, is that is going to be held in Cyprus.. We do not know any dates, and NO country can confirm their participation, because before of that, the EBU must come up with the rules regarding participation. Admins, remove this article now —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tony0106 (talkcontribs)

I have improved the article to some extent. I believe it should be kept now. --Markeandrews 17:54, 15 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Turkey??

edit

Where was it announced that Turkey will be debuting in the contest in 2008? --Markeandrews 17:21, 26 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

A Big Sort Out & Citations

edit

I gave the page a bit of a spring clean and found as many citations as I could from esctoday & oikotimes. I know oikotimes is sometimes not necessarialy the best website for news, but it does give us a starting refernce point for those countries where references are used.

I moved all the 2007 participants into the 'Likely Participants' section that have not yet declared anything, although I have seperated Belarus, Sweden and Ukraine from the main group as they are bidding for the hosting rights to 2009. I have also introduced a 'Definite Non-Returning' section as the UK member broadcasters have no desire to return - see reference. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Twintrees (talkcontribs) 01:10, 15 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Greece withdrew?

edit

Are you sure that Greece withdrew from JESC? It is not mentioned anywhere... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.189.142.56 (talk) 13:34, 8 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Languages

edit

I understand that songs at the Junior eurovision song contest are usually performed in the official first language of the participating country however there are countries who have more than one official languages and also countries with recognized regional dialects who are also permitted to participate. How do you know the Maltese entry will be in English? It can be in Maltese. I know it is unlikely that the Cypriot entry would be in English BUT English is also an official language in Cyprus therefore they could be sending an entry in English. You can have a combination of two languages. Why Not? The Belgian entry can be sung in French or Dutch. In conclusion, do NOT list languages until the participating entry is revealed. Thanks. Tony0106 (talk) 05:14, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

In my list all the countries with more than one language where still open... (Belarus, Cyrpus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Malta) About Belgium, since the Flemish VRT broadcasts the show (The Walloon doesn't want to take part), the song has to be in the official language of Flanders, and the official language of Flanders is Dutch. - A dialect is still not a language but a part of a language, so... the Belgian entry (of Flanders) will be most likely in Flemish or Belgian-Dutch, but that's still Dutch! - About Cyrpus, while the spoken languages are Greek, Turkish and English, the only official languages are Greek and Turkish. Scoub (talk) 00:41, 25 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
VRT also allowed French and German. One of the songs (Une nouveau rêve by Chloé) was partly French, partly Dutch. It made it to the final and was probably the runner-up. Dinsdagskind (talk) 07:15, 5 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Map edited... Deletion tag removed

edit

I have edited the map so it doesnt have to be removed by replacing Non participants with other EBU members. I acknowledged that the map will be removed because it included every non confirmed participant as a non-participant but now that I have edited it there's no need to remove it. Thanks. Song titles and performer names.

edit

I have changed these so they correspond to the one's on the official JESC website, junioreurovision.tv. Please don't change them! -Diggiloo (talk) 18:02, 5 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Participants

edit

This is an article on a content. This article should briefly describe the participants. There is ample precedent for such a structure on other reality shows where the participants have no notability outside the show itself. Until they do have notability outside the show, they do not have separate articles, and are described in the article on the show. Hence here for most of these groups. Gimmetrow 00:12, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

The participants biography has no effect on the contest. This page is about what happened, the country's participating, their entries, placings, etc. If there is consensus to keep, I guess I'll have to live with it, but the WikiProject is currently against the bios. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 00:14, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
My primary goal here is to avoid a bunch of stubs about groups who are known only for this show. A brief bio helps prevent that. Do you intend to move the brief bio content to all the subarticles very soon? Gimmetrow 00:22, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
A user is in the middle of making the other articles now. It will be easily incorporated like "Name, a 14 year old girl from this place and former dancer, was". It's awkward to have a list of performer bios, and I agree that I doubt any of the entrants need their own page. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 01:17, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
OK. At first I thought the "X in the JESC 2008" pages were charts for the winner, but they're more than that. If the bio lines end up in an article, I'm satisfied. Gimmetrow 01:40, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
They will eventually be on there, I've just got to finish four more articles, then add more sources, and add the other required information (the biographies, commentator and spokesperson information). -Diggiloo (talk) 21:37, 17 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Score sheet

edit

Score sheet is upside down - we should have contestants in rows and country votes in columns, not contestants in columns and country votes in rows. Could someone perhaps fix this? --Dzordzm (talk) 23:12, 22 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hm makes sense but for consistency reasons it would have to be switched for all contests, including the 50 or so Eurovision Song Contests. Its a big task. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 00:09, 23 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
