Doesn't add up (cross-article contradiction)

edit

Bolan at this time liked to appear in boho-chic, wearing a corduroy peaked cap similar to his then current source of inspiration, Bob Dylan.

The link on "boho-chic" goes here:

Boho-chic is a style of fashion drawing on various bohemian and hippie influences, which, at its height in late 2005 was associated particularly with actress Sienna Miller and model Kate Moss in the United Kingdom and (as "boho" chic) actress and businesswoman Mary-Kate Olsen in the United States.

This makes no sense at all. Marc Bolan was dead in 2005. How can he be wearing a fashion from thirty years after his death? NotYourFathersOldsmobile (talk) 08:45, 23 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Because fashion labels are not zero sum concepts and are often recycled and re-invented from one generation to another. Any questions? Britmax (talk) 10:07, 23 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Sometimes we use what we can get. Please see Help:Pictures if you think you have a better image available. - SummerPhDv2.0 20:18, 22 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

I don't think that IS a photo of Bolan. There are lots of videos on you tube of him in those years and he is young and thin. not some double chinned fatso. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:818:EA29:600:28B3:A50C:F959:EE13 (talk) 16:27, 12 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

He did go downhill fast in the mid 70s, and put on a fair bit of weight. I agree that the photo is less than ideal though, not because it's unflattering but because it doesn't illustrate Bolan's typical appearance in his heyday. --Ef80 (talk) 19:00, 19 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
There are loads of more flattering and contemporary pics of Marc easily available. The picture currently displayed has been replaced twice already but then this terrible one quiikly comes back again. It obviously suits someone somewhere to have this dreadful memory of Marc displayed on his Wiki page. I know he wasn't everyone's cup of tea but he was King of Glam, often referred to at the time as "elfin-like". Please, someone that knows how, fix it. There are hundreds of better images easily available - one one the cover of Unicorn for a start. 213.18.179.185 (talk) 13:24, 9 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Awful picture of Marc. Many good ones to choose from, so why this one? He looks terrible! RonnyLad (talk) 17:33, 21 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

I'm so glad other people are disturbed by this horrible photo of him . It was at his lowest point this photo why not one of him at his peak or when he was recovered again such as during the Marc show period shortly before his death Surfingtheinterweb (talk) 22:10, 9 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Relation to Fantasy and Tolkien

edit

Perhaps there can be addition to his personal life section about his affinity for fantasy (specifically Tolkien's Lord of the Rings) and how it influenced his musical style and how he viewed life . It is mentioned in the page for his self titled album T. Rex here T. Rex (album) , so it could be added here aswell . Surfingtheinterweb (talk) 00:19, 10 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
