Many people seem to think this his fabrication is the real threetles version and keep adding it back in, so perhaps it's time to explain what his version really is. At least this way people will know that it's not real, and won't keep re-inserting it. I've put in a brief paragraph about it at the end of the "Beatles Version" section, although without mentioning his name. I don't think his version should get much more mention than this, nor should he. -- Macduff (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 14:09, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't know why we can't mention his name. His version is very popular and highly regarded by many. To call his version 'unidentified' is the real fabrication. There is also another quite popular and well-done mix circulating that is by a group who call themselves The Virtual Beatles. This should also be noted. Nice stuff! I'm not sure about Gibson's blog passing WP:RS, but they should all be useful to some degree. :) Evanh2008, Super Genius Who am I? You can talk to me... 18:34, 3 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'm amazed, I've found quite a few for "GOwM", considering most of the results were for lyrics and chords... --Yeepsi (Talk to me!) 19:27, 3 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Article layout: Infoboxes

edit

Given that the only released version of this song will be The Beatles version, might it be prudent to remove the Lennon demo infobox and move The Beatles infobox to its place? For instance, despite going through a similar demo/resurrection process, the article for "Free as a Bird" has a layout which prioritizes the infobox for the actual eventual Beatle release. ["Real Love" is the outlier here, as Lennon's version had already been released and is rightfully listed first.] McCartney75 (talk) 14:56, 26 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

I would support that. Makes little sense to have two infoboxes, just adds clutter. Pawnkingthree (talk) 16:59, 26 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. And I would also suggest removing "The Beatles' version" as a section header, it doesn't make much sense in an article that's no longer treating the demo as a distinct "version." -Elmer Clark (talk) 01:46, 3 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
I think the opposite ought to be true – the John infobox ought to be at the top and the Beatles infobox should be moved down into the appropriate section. The way this article has been rearranged, and the way the lead is worded, it gives readers a false impression of what this song is and where it came from. The fact that it is a John-song onto which the surviving ex-Beatles added contributions. Tkbrett (✉) 02:19, 3 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Personnel

edit

The credits are different in the description of Now And Then's YouTube art track [2] compared to the personnel listed in this article.

It gives writing credits solely to John. The other 3 Beatles are given arranging credits, but not writing credits.

In addition, production credits are given to all 4 Beatles in addition to Giles Martin and Jeff Lynne, which contradicts the announcement at [3]

Should the credits in this article be changed? VoicefulBread66 (talk) 02:29, 3 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

These are incorrect. The credits currently on the article are the same as listed on the record release Bedivere (talk) 12:55, 5 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

The title of the song is "Now And Then".

edit

The title of this song is "Now And Then". Not "Now and Then". In the same manner as "Love Me Do". You can't spell titles or names anyway you like to! 94.234.97.112 (talk) 22:47, 3 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

It doesn't matter how the band chooses to display it on streaming platforms etc. Wikipedia has a Manual of Style. In this case, like every other article with 'and' in the title, we follow MOS:CAPS. Gibbsyspin 23:12, 3 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

hi,

Should we add a small note besides the piano in Paul Mccartney's credit as the original piano was from him, he's just playing the same chords as John did but again since they took the piano from the tapes 121.44.210.132 (talk) 03:03, 5 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Paul played the piano based on how it was written by John – that's similar to how many songs are written and recorded. That's information to include in the text detailing how the song was made rather than in a note. MClay1 (talk) 21:49, 9 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
What i meant was that yes paul did play the piano, but John played the piano in the original demo, its just Paul played what John played. 118.210.40.112 (talk) 09:32, 10 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Video

edit

I tried to flesh out the paragraph describing the video. I thought I did an OK job. Everything I wrote can be seen in the video and sourced. Unfortunatly, the Daily Mail was deemed unreliable although, here, everything seems fine! Cannot find a better source yet. I copied my modified text here. Can anyone find a better source ? This would replace the last paragraph of the Promotion section.
