Does anyone know how Old age Security is funded. I know CPP and EI is funded straight from employee/employer payroll tax, how about OAS?

The OAS is entirely taxpayer funded. The source of funds is called 'General Revenues'. CPP is funded through matching employee/employer contributions of 4.95% each. This rate is risimg as of 2019.

The information on eligibility does not appear to match the information on service canada's site http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/isp/pub/oas/oas.shtml Housecarl (talk) 17:52, 9 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Which section is it that doesn't match? The content appears correct to me.

That page no longer exists and the article is being rewritten. ---

Why is their no history about when the OAS was created? I came here expecting to at least see what year the program started in. 216.58.49.101 (talk) 16:02, 2 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

The history is not included yet because the program is defined in legislation that is ammended annually by the budget process. The history is extensive and traceable through the legislative history available from Justice Canada. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jwaustin188 (talkcontribs) 16:21, 1 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

There are references i the form of links to the official Government of Canada web sites. The areti le is evolving and these references will be added shortly. The article is intended to i form the reader. There are links to essential documents and some gaps in the official story are pointed out. I hope to shorten the ti.e taken to raise se iors inco.es. People are in poverty and wait for years to see their pensions rise. Section 14(2) gets them there in a month not years. Jwaustin188 (talk) 17:34, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
